Iggy Pop - Mass Production Lyrics
Before you go
Do me a favour
Give me a number
Of a girl almost like you
With legs almost like you
You're not nothing new
I like to drive along the freeways
See the smokestacks belching
Breasts turn brown
So warm and so brown
Though I try to die
You put me back on the line
Oh damn it to hell
Back on the line--hell
Again and again
I'm back on the line
Again and again
And I see my face here
And it's there in the mirror
And it's up in the air
And I'm down on the ground
By the way
I'm going for cigarettes
And since you've gotta go
Won't you do me that favour
Won't you give me that number
Won't you get me that girl
Yeah, she's almost like you
Yes, she's almost like you
And I'm almost like him
Yes, I'm almost like him
Yes, I'm almost like him
Yeah, I'm almost like him

No, es plagio
I'm here because of Gustavo Cerati & Ian Curtis. 🇦🇷🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️
The greatest synthesizer solo of all time bar none.
The lyrics “a girl almost like you” reminds of when you get dumped and you can’t find anyone quite like that person anymore so your just out searching hoping you can find someone almost like them or better someday, I’m going through this right now
Ian Curtis' favourite song. <3
genio Gustavo!!! Aqui un nuevo disco desde Argentina https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FuSvUtpCXE&t=1s
Me and my synths and....... my factory
Masterpiece
Came into a record shop in my hometown 1978. This album was running on speakers. I had not enough money with me, so I RAN home (literally RAN) to get the cash. It was also the first album which I bought later again as CD.
Still sounds so fresh, Awesome track !
OCCUPY THE BRAIN
One of the most disturbing closing tracks to an album in pop/rock history, fitting the rest of the record's unsettling, atonal and lurching style. Sums up Iggy's attitude to life pre-Berlin and also his curious love of factories.
There's really nothing like this out there or even close. People have no idea the thought process to that goes into making something like this or just how powerful it really is.
A very strange song - and a great one!
Fucking awesome song
Tururu tun tun tundu
Tururu tan tun tundu
i wanna be....beeeeeeeeeeeside yoooou...
The noises at the end of the 7th minute are addictive
Holy shit
My burial track
Even though the song is super depressing to me, it's definitely a gem.
This song reminds me of Eraser Head
Before you go
Do me a favour

Iguana eterna!

im going for cigarettes
Arthur Ferreira perfect song to listen to while walking by yourself to your nearest gas station (in the middle of the night while it’s drizzling slightly outside).
be sure to say hello to david and ian while you're on your way
Es como ser ameba
Sin anverso ni reverso.
La ilusión eterna
De que te vas,
Y te vas repitiendo...
Last song heard by Ian Curtis
Really ?! Anyway great sense of humor
How do you turn a dead -weight, one chord riff into a rock classic? Get Iggy Pop on vocals.
Toda esa gente dice que te ama, toda esa gente dice que te odia...
Sonido psicodelico.
your not nothing new
give me u #
Jammie !!!!!
there's a man who knows what i want......
Indeed. Bowie & Iggy coming off drugs. OK, so it was no picnic, but got a great track out of it.
My favorite Iggy Pop--darkest song of his career. Perfect for night driving.
RainyDayMerman It is really awesome to hear this song on late night drive! Makes it a more dense kinda drive kinda awesome if you ever get the chance
So much Bowie influence on this album, seems like even some Lou Reed too
Ig was heavily influenced by Kraftwerk during this period.
He once described the album as a cross between James Brown
and Kraftwerk , back in 1976. Lou's input was negligible.
They weren't even talking to one another during the late 70s.
only now do I respect the fuck out of David Bowie. with this production, helping tvotr get their start, his own career including his last album which was amazing especially knowing he was dying, that's a true genius. some of the clothes, etc in the stardust era are questionable but his taste in music cannot be fucked with. well done sir
Andrew Cameron wow I never knew bowie had anything to do with tvotr.
could listen to this forever
hate all the Curtis references, shots old. although I will say its a good song to go out too, see ya soon Ian
Sounds like giant industrial gears and cogs turning a machine that cranks out human bodies.
Something mysterious and primordial.
Pretty sure that’s what Iggy and David were going for.
AKA Detroit lol
@Todd Rocket yes, I recall in an interview Iggy talked about a grade school field trip to a local factory and the sound of a giant metal press crashing down. It was a seminal moment.
Best lyrics. Thanks so much to Hal Leonard for granting me permission to use some of these lyrics in one of my books. Iggy's early solo albums are the best.
Impeccably perfectly flawless
His absolute masterpiece
the incorporation of information can be problematic if the mechanisms that made one a functional moral agent become untethered
Obviously.
thanks youtube for interrupting this song at 1:01 with a stupid commercial. fuck off in advance for next time.
Bowie really produced the shit out of this record.
Like Si Estas Aqui Por Cerati♥
Angela Cerati. Long live Cerati
Angela Cerati love you guys both
likazo xd
" TOP CLASS "
this song change my life
My favorite Iggy's tune...and album too!...the best mix of electronic and rock music and Bowie/Iggy...I never imagined to see it played live on with actual live band...
PipoloffVideo Bowie was the producer.
dear suburbia
Soda Stereo ameba!
Fucking masterful!
ian curtis was probably dying to this
No. It was during side B.
Side A or B? I haven't read the book by Debbie (his wife), does she mention it?
I remember to have seen it here: "The cult of Ian Curtis". Or there: Jon Savage's documentary "Joy Division".
@Pedro Fraga how would anyone know?
It was his favourite song though.
Just saw this song live last night in Chicago. Epic.
was that the Chicago Theater show. They played all my favorite songs going back 40 years.I'm glad he finally made it ,but i miss those small venues when this wild.boy was only a few.feet.away.
DAVID BOWIE. JOSH HOMME. *IGGY POP.*
Jake Eff Josh Homme had nothing to do with this song lol. He does a damn good job backing up iggy though
Hank Williams THE FIRST would cover this on death trip to NASHVILLE.
Examples well, this song, the nexus of country, American avant garde pop styling, Brit song heritage, AND BLUES.
The BEST BOWIE albums have been SPACEFACE w LUTHER VANDROSS (Young Americans), IGGY PBK (The Idiot), and NILES $miles (Let'$ Dance)...and then there's the remainder of the catalogue.
International Day of Mourning when HE releases to the outer reaches of space.
Not a bad second of sonics on this song. IGGY opens up and bleeds on how you're gud, Sugah, but you're departing, so could you recommend your replacement. That!s horribly beyond gangsta. And the admission that she's just one of a kind. That's OLD TESTAMENT...it isn"t funny. It's a kove song turned inside out to die in heat i August in Arizona in an unending NOON. (Forget Twist and Shout.) This is LOU REEDism brought as close as possible to TOP 40. By comparison LUST FOR LIFE is the Four Seasons greatest hits.
Anyone else hear Bauhaus at the beginning?
+Richie Mann I think this album influenced many UK new wave/punk/goth bands.
+Richie Mann Bauchaus formed a year after this album
"A God In An Alcove" references this, I believe, "that MASS PRODUCTION profile".
Just saw this song performed at Heavy Montreal tonight. Incredible wall of sound. Best thing I've heard in a long time. The studio recording pales in comparison to live.
+Rage Denon I couldn't agree more. This song alone would have made me go back a 2nd night in Boston, had there been one.
sounds like the doors
+Lucía Chaparro Cadenas Well spotted, Jim Morrison was a massive influence on Iggy.
It was rumoured he was going to front the Doors after Jim
died, but his heroin addiction made him too unreliable for
Ray Manzarek.
just for the record, iggy was highly influenced by a live performance he saw of jim morrison
Welcome to post-acute withdrawal syndrome!
Like si entendiste el comentario.
Absolutely awesome track
LOL puse Ameba y me trajo acá.
Like an army of mechanical lemmings marching off a cliff.
lemmings dont actually follow eachother off a cliff, it was done for experiment, and when they didnt hop off the cliff they were forced and herded off.
haupper this is probably the most accurate description I've ever seen for this song.
Fels Naptha planning on.watching cable news are ya?
hypnotic
Happy birthday baby!
Allthough many say "The Idiot" was no Iggy Pop Album (more Bowie), for me it's the best of Iggy Pop (and also the best of Bowie). The only other Iggy Pop Record I like is "Kill City".
Völl Däpp u gotta be kidding. New Values. w/ james williamson as well.
Zombie Birdhouse is pretty good too, as is Lust for Life. His sound is all over the place, I like most of his work though.
Pffft! ! !
pretty solid bowie track.
everyanybody Fuck you. Even if it was sarcastic, Fuck you.
'By the way, im going for cigarettes'
This is a collaborative work. The answer to the question of relative contributions is a matter of taste and rather elusive.
georgiedubb not really, actually Bowie wrote the music and produced the record, while Iggy wrote the lyrics and composed the vocal melodies.
@corailgris True, 'cept for Dum Dum Boys (clumsiest lyrics on the album but one of the best melodies), which was the other way around.
Has anyone noticed the resemblance between Iggy Pop and Gareth Bale?
Jajajaja si
Ameba versión mejorada de Mass Production? Espero que sea broma.
I thought he had Raw Power spinning when he died.
when this came on? people, there was no mp3s back then, it's said he died listening to side a, and this song is in side b.
Gordo virgo. Matate. O bien quedate en silla de ruedas.
the last song ian curtis ever heard
How the HELL was this released in 1977?! Insanely ahead of its time!
I reckon it would've been around 6:45
Best album of the 70's.
Not getting it today
this will always be my favorite iggy song
My closest friends still live there. I grew up listening to this sound. I lived on the Detroit River. Ships, steel mills, chemical factories, automobile assembly plants, and railroads. It was 24/7. This is a song of the people that lived there. There was nothing new. We lived very well. That sound is the sound of money. Production... unlike America today. I am from Detroit, and... I know production sounds like, and we are not poor.
Probably, I just like to think it was the weird droning sounds in this (ascending from high to low and vice versa) that gave him a seizure leading him to do himself in, but yes it's merely a theory
The whole album. So he was hanging gloriously when this came on.
I think this is the song Ian Curtis was listening to when he killed himself
Música para suicidarse.
Soda Stereo reinvented this song with "Ameba".
right on comment man brilliant.
Just listening to this again after 30 years. I heard this piece when it came out in '77 and it's still a remarkable and prescient work of art.
