Humble Pie - The Light Lyrics

Feelin' good, suppose I should
Now that I have seen
I can hear and I can talk
Some people ain't too keen

They tread on your feet
No conscience can be seen
"How do you do?", the brick wall said
And later broke in two

Knowing that you're right
Will show you the light
Knowing when you've done wrong
Feeling bad with fright

Why am I still sitting here?
Why am I alive?
Someone stole my axe today
Best one that I had

I don't know what is savin' me
From hidin' me away
I've had enough of feelin' down
I'm just here on display

Who dat dere, with the black fair hair
Drove me off the road
Don't ask why he looks so high
Tell it all in code

Maybe a quarter to three
I lost all track of mind
I watched a fox just the other night
Funny how time flies

Knowing when you're right
Will show you the light
Knowing when you've done wrong
Feeling bad with fright

Why am I still lying
Over what has been
What am I suppose to do
I'm waitin' for your ring

Spread your wings and you will see
What you can really make
Of a rockin' chair that is so bare
The paint will surely flake

'Cause knowing that you're right
Will show you the light
Knowing when you've done wrong
Feeling bad with fright

Because knowing that you're right
Will show you the light

    Very underrated band.

  3. r.... s....

Frampton leaving Marriot was worser than mommy leaving daddy!

  4. r.... ....

This song shows what Humble Pie might have been had Frampton stayed in the band. The mix of his songs with Marriott's more rocking songs people would be speaking of Humble Pie as they do of Led Zeppelin.

+Starry&Bohemian @Starry&Bohemian - This album was produced by the great Glyn Johns. I'm not sure Glyn's production and engineering credentials can be called into question, his catalogue speaks for itself. The fast fade out was more likely a mastering decision to ensure all the intended songs could fit on two sides of vinyl. Hope this helps :)

  21. S.... ....

but who produced this ? it's really a good job... except the end of the song... the volume is getting low much too fast for me... if the end of a song is not really good i can understand ...but this is not the case here...not at all

    S.... ....

maybe it has something to do with the lenght that you can actually put on a record at that time...

  22. J.... R....

' Tasty ' !! Steve you were a phenomenal Talent even though Frampton is singing lead in this song! LOL! RIP. Steve!

  23. d.... ....

Early Brit rock bands like Free and Humble pie influenced many of the new crop of blues rock bands.

btw...is anyone else getting tired of You Tube asking you to use your full name....sometimes I hate these bs places which is why i don;t post on facebook.

  24. M.... ....

Thank god for Pandora. Or I might not have ever heard this song.

Humble Pie. What is there to be said about Humble Pie that hasn't already been said?
Top 3 R&R bands of all time. Yes, Marriott had a voice that no one has even come close too,to this day. Frampton? Well, history speaks for him. And history speaks very well of him.
Just an all around great R&R band. No one, not any other band has their sound. And no one ever will. Rock On People!

  26. C.... S....

What a great (and under-rated band) they were. Steve Marriot especially, was the male equivalent of Janis Joplin. Great stuff.

  27. a.... s....

    out'a'sight man!

    a.... s....

    Far out man!!!!

  28. M.... O....

    I so love these people!!!

Thanks for sharing! The third self titled album from 1970 is my fave Humble Pie album. This is a great song on this interesting album of theirs. My personal faves are the first three albums, rockin' the fillmore, and smokin'. Peter Frampton's songs are tops! Cheers, Jason

@bigjoelongaker I'm so glad! This is one of my faves!!! Of course, I always LOVE the deeper cuts on an album. NEVER the ones played on AOR radio...Probably my absolute favorite song off of this album is "A Song For Jenny", but it's already available on YouTube. :)

  31. J.... L....

    Love this song!
