Humble Pie - Shine On Lyrics

Find it hard to see you in the dark
I looked around, you were beside me
Don't you realize it's hard to dream
Without your helping hard to guide me
This could be the one, if you will be my sun.

(Shine on)
'Cause I need someone around me when I'm down
(Shine on)
(Shine on)
Shine on me, shine on you, let it shine on
(Shine on).

Look about and tell me what you see
Noise and dirt and plastic people
'Cause love is clean and ours has been
A bluer shade of jade there than that's provided
Take me on a ride girl
Right there by my side, Lord.

(Shine on)
Shine on me, shine on you, let it shine on
(Shine on)
(Shine on)
All I have to do is let it shine on
(Shine on).

(Shine on)
Shine on me, shine on you, let it shine on
(Shine on)
(Shine on)
All I have to do is let it shine on
(Shine on)
Shine, shine on, shine on me
Shine on, shine on, shine on you
Shine on, shine on
Shine on, shine on me, shine on you, let it shine on..

  16. r.... s....

I think albums were about $3.78 back then? lucky lucky lucky?

    r.... s....

Believe me, the price was proportioned to the then market value.

  17. B.... R....

    Marriott kicks major arse.

    B.... R....

    ummmmmmmmmmmm hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  18. R.... ....

Great backing vocals from "The Soul Sisters" (as they were listed on the LP) — PP Arnold, Claudia Lennear and Doris Troy

  19. M.... B....

    All you gotta do

  20. P.... C....

Rock On was probably their best studio album, and I still think the Frampton/Marriott Pie era was best.
Highly recommend "A Song for Jenny" (Jenny was Marriott's first wife).

    P.... C....

That Rock On album made me go to see them live. Big surprise though. I was at the Fillmore that night in 71 and consider that the best live Blues Rock album ever. The thing is being there in the theatre was 10 times better than any stereo I ever heard. That venue was amazing and I saw Allman Bros twice there, and J. Geils..... but Pie takes the cake!.

    P.... C....

Not Jenny Boyd? Patti Boyd's sleep around sister. (cheated on Mic Fleetwood and now this revelation with Marriot) Her type is the basis for the Rolling Stones 1973 song 'Starfucker'. (Goat Heads Soup album)

    P.... C....

“Jenny” is Jenny Roylance, Rod Stewart’s ex. Steve wrote a number of songs for her including Small Faces “Tin Soldier” & “Autumn Stone”. She was the love of Steve’s life.

  21. T.... H....

I seldom listen to classic rock== This is a major exception!~!

    T.... H....

You probably prefer Justin Beiber then

  22. s.... ....

This slice of pie continues to be fresh after all these years!

Please, I know we don't know each other, but do me a favor: never try to write the lyrics to a song again. Thank you.

  24. S.... ....

    the original supergroup............ Awesomeness

    S.... ....

The hated the tag supergroup. The reason they called themselves Humble Pie was to downplay the supergroup status, Marriott's idea.

  25. R.... D....

    marriott

  26. S.... Q....

Please post 79th and Sunset. :)
    Please. :)

  27. R.... ....

Great backing vocals by PP Arnold, Doris Troy and Claudia Lennear ("The Soul Sisters")

  28. E.... ....

@kildesamling Why shouldn't the comments here reference Peter Frampton? He wrote this song and sings the lead on it. Aside from which, the earliest Pie recordings---the albums "As Safe as Yesterday" and "Town and Country"---were equal parts Frampton and Marriott for the writing, and that music suggests the Pie might have become something more and better than just bloozaboogie bores. Both deserved better and each got it, for a little while, anyway . . .

  29. d.... ....

Steve Marriot was certainly the creative force and best voice in HP. Taking nothing from Frampton, who is still touring and playing/sounding great, (friends who have run sound for him say he's a total gentleman as well), Marriot is an underrated and largely forgotten voice of that era. Live at the Fillmore is still a GREAT Live album. R.I.P. Steve. We miss you.

  30. T.... G....

Yea i got the list you want it? Steve Marriott will be greatly missed but the dream of the Pie would have never happened without Peter, Steve knew what he was doing when asked Peter to help form the band in late 68.

  31. T.... G....

Frampton gave us a treat when his Comes Alive Dbl record came out in 1976. Unfortunetly this was his last studio album with the Pie but went on to bigger things :-)) w/Wind of Change , Something Happening , Framptons Camel, Frampton and Frampton Comes Alive, hard to make a comeback after a top 1# selling live album of all time but he tried with I'm In You , and so the 80s came in lol. Peace...

  32. J.... M....

I love this song. This is Peter Frampton best song with The Pie...

  33. h.... ....

Sour Grain was track 2 on this great LP. ;) 79th and Sunset was 3rd.

But I will get around to posting it.

  34. J.... M....

Rock on Humble Pie was a great album; by the way, could you post the next song? (79th and Sunset)... in fact that was one of the first songs I learned to play... Thanks a lot.-
