Hopesfall - The Broken Heart Of A Traitor Lyrics

Will the waves of time wash away the pain in my heart?
Can I bury the knife that has pierced my soul
Or will I continue to turn it to remind me of my own blindness?
Because I find no touch of grace to surprise my eyes, or rest my spirit
And I have come to realize my good moments were forged in self deception...
And the question that plagues my mind...
Is grace enough? to build a bridge once burned,
To fill what is hollow with the substance of virtue
Though the wings of a dove have wiped the tears from my eyes
This tongue has fanned the flames of unforgiveness
But love suffers long and rejoices in truth...
And this imperfect creation is shortcoming
But striving none the less for that which is eternal

This is undoubtedly a forgotten masterpiece, it took my breath away 15yrs ago and still does, one of my all time favourite songs

This and No Wings to Speak Of should go down as two of the greatest albums of all time. I still remember seeing them like it was yesterday in 99/2001.

They were massively ahead of their time - metalcore bands in 2018 would love to make something this good.

I haven't listened to this album since I graduated high school in '04. Somehow, I never forgot the part starting at 2:03...it's played in my head constantly over the years. Something about that part is so memorable.

it reminds me of the first light of day; the sun rising over the hills.

ugh...so tired of every comment i see posted on all of their videos referring to them as "screamo"...that term was not yet invented when they were putting this out

    P.... S....

+Patrick Squaires sorry, dude, I loved this song when it was out but I got ripped on for listening to "screamo" in 2000. Was definitely a thing.

    P.... S....

First time hearing this its awsome

    P.... S....

@theonlywalrus Your memory is off homie. There was no "screamo" in 2000. We were all still searching Christian book stores for these CDs then. At "worst" it was called Melodic Hardcore. Also - scene kids didn't yet exist and weren't wearing girls jeans yet.

  23. J.... S....

The first screamo song I ever heard!
