Holly, Buddy - Modern Don Juan Lyrics

Well, I ain't nothin' but a man in love
I ain't nothin' but a man in love
The girls they say, I'm their only one
They say I'm a modern Don Juan

Well there ain't but one thing puzzlin' me
I got a girl and she can't see
That I want only to make her mine
Well she thinks I'm just handin' her a line

Oh, I love her so, I'll never ever let her go-o-hoh

I ain't nothin' but a man in love
I ain't nothin' but a man in love
The girls they say, I'm their only one
They say I'm a modern Don Juan

Oh, I love her so, I'll never ever let her go-o-hoh

I ain't nothin' but a man in love
I ain't nothin' but a man in love
The girls they say, I'm their only one
They say I'm a modern Don Juan
Well, I ain't nothin' but a man in love
I ain't nothin' but a man in love
I ain't nothin' but a man in love

  2. L.... D....

This is very cute and somewhat poignant

  3. K.... B....

The Beatles are an undeserved insult to this genius.

    K.... B....

I'm not a Beatles fan but I'm sure a creative, inquisitive mind like Buddy's (that's why he moved to New York - as did Lennon) would have enjoyed their energy, humour and creativity.

    K.... B....

Ive said that before too. I dont think theyre terrible but people act like theyre a continuation of Buddy’s work or like he wouldve jumped on the hippie train and I just dont see it at all. Also funny how the small minority of people in America that liked rock and roll music were heavily outcasted and put upon but when the Beatles showed up with a weird spinoff of what American artists had been doing for years all of a sudden they treat Paul McCartney like the second coming of Christ.

  4. J.... ....

Sax rift is similar to Bill Haley's "Dim, Dim the lights", released on Decca in 1955

  5. R.... J....

On this day in 1956 {November 15th} Buddy Holly recorded "Modern Don Juan" at the Owen Bradley's Quonset Hut studio in Nashville, TN...
Country sessions musician Farris Coursey played drums on the recording; Mr. Coursey has appeared on three records that peaked at #1 on Billboard's Country Singles chart, he played drums on Hank Williams' "Kaw-Liga" and Bobby Helms' "Fraulein", and on Red Foley's "Chattanooga Shoe Shine Boy" he slapped his thighs to re-create the sound of a rhythmic 'shoeshiner's rag'...
Mr. Coursey passed away on January 13th, 1968 at the young age of 56...
    May he R.I.P.

  16. r.... ....

    Buddy at his best

  17. J.... B....

    I agree 100%

  18. c.... ....

The thing about Buddy was his glasses. He was great without them, of course. But, when he put those glasses on, oh boy!!!

    c.... ....

Yes it's true he was the one who made it acceptable for a singer to wear glasses. I remember John Lennon pointing at this. (I am half blind without my contacts, before you'd ask :})

But I am more interested in Buddy's guitar knowledge, songwriting skills and voice - so sweet but far from tacky - than what he looked like!
