Hollies, The - Down River Lyrics

Good to see you again, Rosie
I know I've changed a lot since then
You're lookin' fine, babe

Three years that ain't long, Rosie
I still remember our song
When you were mine, babe

Times change, times change I know
But it sure moves slow
Down river when you're locked away

Hey why didn't you write, Rosie
I stayed awake most every night
Countin' my time babe

Oh no I ain't mad Rosie
I know you had to mind your dad
But just a line babe

Oh sure I remember then
We went off to school
Ain't that right
Well he ain't no fool

He's a good man Rosie
Hold him tight as you can
Don't ask me why babe

Yeah nice seein' you again Rosie
Me I got things to do
Well good-bye babe

[Chorus 2x]

Rosie down river
Down river when you're locked away
Rosie I'm losing
Down river

Hollies, The Down River Comments
  1. A.... F....

    Amazing Mikael Rickfors voice.

  2. M.... G....

Which one of the Hollies is singing?  They had high, squeaky voices, as I recall...

    M.... G....

@Mary G Mikael Rickfors, the Swede who replaced Allan Clarke for a year or two in the early 1970s while the latter was off attempting a solo career. I wouldn't call Allan's voice high and squeaky, though it was definitely higher than Mikael's! Perhaps you're thinking of Graham Nash and Terry Sylvester, they of the high harmonies. (Tony Hicks sang too, but rarely lead, and I wouldn't characterize him as high and squeaky either.)

  3. T.... M....

Great David Ackles Song - Great vocals by the Hollies.

  4. p.... k....

    this is amazing

  5. M.... B....

I'm glad he stuck to the original's vocal style, at he beginning, anyway! He obviously respected Ackles.

  6. D.... H....

    BOY, HE CAN SING!!!

  7. F.... C....

this track gives me chills. Incredibly sung by Mikael Rickfors.
