Higgins, Missy - Unbroken Lyrics

Red hand print on the white of your cheek
Pack your bags quiet, while the lion sleeps
Watch your mother put her name to the line
Next to the place where your father signed

And inevitably, what you used to be was
Succumb to the pull of gravity
And you will never, no you will never see with virgin eyes again

'Cus this is the day that everything changes
And your world stops turning, running straight,
Into the break lights, you've come to nothing
This is the day that everything changes and your worlds collide
You know in time you'll wake to find you're a little unbroken

Hold the answer to the light to see your future
Two line, blue line tragedy
He brings the medal to the fire for the first time,
tells you it’s the last time and it will be

'Cus inevitably, what you used to be was
Tainted by the hand of curiosity
And you will never, no you will never see with virgin eyes again

'Cus this is the day that everything changes
And the world stops turning, running straight,
Into the break lights, you've come to nothing
This is the day that everything changes and your worlds collide
You know in time you'll wake to find you're a little unbroken

So how can I explain the isolated rain that follows you?
But wouldn’t you agree running always slows you down
So welcome the pain
And stop yourself from delaying it
'Cus the real life will never go away

'Cus this is the day that everything changes
And the world stops turning, running straight,
Into the break lights, you've come to nothing
This is the day that everything changes and your worlds collide
You know in time you'll wake to find you're a little unbroken

Oh, you're a little unbroken
Oh, a little unbroken, yeah,
You're, oh, a little unbroken

In case if anybody wanted the songs chords are:
    Verse/Chorus - A minor, F major, C major and G major.
    Bridge - F major, C major, A Minor, G major.
Just listen to the chord changes of the song.
Did it by ear and I hope you enjoy playing along! 😊😊

Missy Higgins actually wrote one of her songs about me... I know that would be very hard for people to believe. I wasn't the average girl and she saw my story on the news and came all the way from Melbourne to visit my home in Brisbane. She played a few songs for me, this was before her album had been released. She asked if she could use my story in one of her songs. I remember her sending me a copy of the song but unfortunately at the end of the year I went under hypnosis to repress the memories of my experience. The doctor advised to get rid of anything related to what I had been through, which included the CD. :(
She's such as sweet woman, I had her home number and spoke to her a few times. One of the songs she played when she visited was The River. The song reminded her of me, being young and going through a difficult situation. I feel so lucky to have complete strangers offering their support to me.

Paula Jerome you're so lucky! 😊 But I'm so sorry to hear that it was triggering you though. 😕😔 Missy is a great musician and likes to write music from experiences and from her heart! Do you listen to her other songs though (e.g. sound of white, ol razzle dazzle and Oz?)
