Heart - Perfect Stranger Lyrics

Stranger are you waiting
For someone to come down and love you in time
Stranger you're debating
Can you get the words in your head
And you're heart to rhyme

Feel like a perfect stranger
You been gone so long
It's come down to feeling
And you're feeling wrong

I know how you want to, you're a hero
Under the stars you are wild
Well, come on, I want you I'm telling you
You're only a stranger a little while

Feel like a perfect stranger, you been gone so long
But you still know how to make it baby
You got to make it strong

It just got too heavy to carry
It all came down
But you're still alive, you're still seething
Just in time, you found your time
And your timimg is perfect stranger
What it gets down to, you, you, it's you baby
Only you
Only you
Your timing is perfect stranger
You been gone too long
But it's your time to make baby
Come on and make it strong now

A perfect song title and probably the most exciting track on the album ...

    Dayum! that voice

  3. J.... B....

Good god this is some good shit..I have no idea what this song is about..it’s a little to deep for me but it’s awesome..such a powerful voice this chick has. Love it

  4. S.... F....

The beginning of the song reminds me of "I Love You" - Heart.

  5. F.... ....

This song is amazing! It always has been. I just don't understand why it wasn't a number one single for them! It's just so amazingly cool! I would love to see them play this live. But unfortunately they never do, and I've seen them live about eight times!

  6. T.... L....

One of my all-time favorite songs by Heart

  7. G.... M....

Perfect Stranger is the song where I personally noticed how much Ann's voice and pipes were God given! So much power and emotion behind her singing style. She'll forever be my one and only favorite singer!!!!

  8. R.... T....

The most under-rated Heart "album" and definitely one of my favs. This came out when I was in college....it's an awesome album start to finish, with lots of Nancy on it.

  9. j.... d....

great song but what you except from heart

  10. M.... F....

    Underrated album of Heart's 😎❤

would like to see and hear this live from 1982. a great song that should have been a huge hit in 1982

    'Perfect Stranger'

    Recorded in February 1982.

For the 'Private Audition' album which was released on June 5, 1982.

Too much 'Soft Ballad' stuff for a Hard Rock Band.

Ann Wilson was collaborating with friend and song-writer Sue Ennis at the time,
and the Music had taken a turn for softness.

'Heart' produced the entire album over a 6-Month period {October 1981 thru March 1982} as they were struggling for material. It is obvious here.

'Heart' had last been in the studio in December 1979, when they were finishing
up 'Bebe le Strange', so it was 2+ Years since their last album.

the band had lost their 'aggressive-edge' and hard-driving power chords from the
    previous 4 Albums.

Paul Ceasrine this song and cities burning are both great songs and this man is mine is a very good song too but this album did need about one or two more very hard rock songs

Apparently the 2 band members that were fired after this album agreed. Both Steve Fossen and Micheal DeRosier felt the music was not up to par or hard enough on this record to appeal to Heart fans and resisted recording this record leading to both being dismissed upon completion of the album. I personally loved most of this record though it was a pretty big departure music wise from previous Heart albums.

@Neil Maclean I read that after Steve left Ann did most of the bass guitar work.

Hey all: Just came across this album and as a long time Heart fan how I've not heard of it is beyond me. Just another reason why the Wilson sisters and Heart rock great stuff. Thanks

  14. d.... d....

Tremendous singing here. I wonder what it sounded like live decades ago.. Ann was at her peak during the 1980s. Great song that got next to zero radio play.

  15. m.... w....

one of my very favorite heart songs

  16. m.... r....

The Wilson sisters rock my world and melt my heart.  I love them.

  17. D.... G....

This is a very good album but I like many wanted a hard rock album at the time and this was not hard rock except for Cities Burning which got no radio play.

  18. D.... G....

Beautiful song. I barely heard it in 1982.

  19. R.... s....

    This is an awesome song!

  20. C.... E....

I have no more words to say how wonderful are the Wilson Sisters!! SO NICE!!

  21. L.... A....

    ...you're only a stranger a little while...

  22. H.... T....

This may be my favorite Heart song. It should've been the first single.

    H.... T....

At 3 minutes 50, it looks like it may have been meant to be. I think they were having label issues at the time.

  23. P.... ....

Great comment in regards to Howard, It was upsetting to hear about him leaving the sisters, after all those years.
    He really GOT those two.

  24. P.... ....

Still can, the BEST female rock singer, and to this day, no one can touch her. :)

  25. C.... E....

    I agree absolutely with you!!

  26. T.... ....

    PERFECT...

  27. P.... C....

@stilllovezep1 So do I! Great stings accompanying!!!

  28. O.... ....

Ann could really belt them out. One of the best female rock voices.

  29. O.... ....

@staygee1 Only Heart album I actually bought. I also think it's underrated, though I like some of their earlier stuff, as well.

  30. O.... ....

Wow. Thanks for uploading this. I had the album back in the day, and haven't heard the songs in ages.

  31. s.... ....

Why did the music press slate this album ?? saying the sisters were all dried up and out of ideas some great tracks THE SITUATION being a top song etc , I myself got into heart with Bad Animals then went back the way through their catalogue Private Audition is the one i listen too the most .........

  32. B.... M....

One of my favorite lines of all time from this song: "...getting the words in your head and heart to rhyme".

  33. m.... w....

this is the real heart - not the crap they play on the radio
