Hartman, Dan - I'm Only Foolin' Myself Lyrics
Woo-hoo...
I don't trust my memory anymore
Can't tell if things are better than they were before
But this heart of mine is ready to believe
And the life long friend can't stand being alone
Until the morning comes and you have to leave
Than I see you on the street
Holding on to someone else who even looks like me
It seems like
I'm only fooling myself
I'm playing games with my heart and soul
I know that fooling myself
I'm only fooling myself
I'm playing games with my heart and soul
Everybody knows fooling yourself
Can be dangerous when you lose control
Then you've only got yourself to blame (woo-hoo)
Well, when you asked if I could take you in
It was harder than it should have been
Cause you were always such good company
And last night you wanted me to stay
But this morning you just slipped away
Without saying goodbye
Maybe you were just a dream, ooh
Well I'm easy when it comes to being kind
And sure I need a little bit of love on the side
But when the truth begins to hurt
It gets too hard to hide
I'm only fooling myself
I'm playing games with my heart and soul
I know that fooling myself
Can be dangerous if I lose myself
I know I'm fooling myself
I'm playing games with my heart and soul
(He-he-he-he-he)
It can be dangerous, (ooh-ooh-ooh), very dangerous
Yeah (oh-oh, woah)
Listen
If I use sleight of hand
To make you reappear
Still I can't be sure
What is and isn't there
I'm only fooling myself
I'm playing games, (yeah), with my heart and soul
(I'm only) Everybody knows fooling yourself
Can be dangerous if you lose control
I'm only fooling myself
I'm playing games with my heart and soul
I know that fooling myself
Can be dangerous (dangerous)
Yeah
I'm only fooling myself (I'm fooling myself)
(Fooling myself)
With my heart and soul (with my heart and soul)
(Ooh)
It can be dangerous, (dangerous), if I lose control
(Ooh)

Hartman, Dan I'm Only Foolin' Myself Comments
I remember this concert very well, recorded the whole thing in a couple of Betamax tapes, but the tapes are long lost now, only have the Granada released 1 hour VHS cassette that contains this and a few other artists from those 3 nights back in 1986.
I never found the STEREO version of this VHS....just MONO PAL and MONO SECAM L. :(
Sounded like Rod Stewart in some moments
Why Dan's final solo album "White Boy" was never released is a travesty. From what I have heard the record company thought the music was "not what we are accustomed to" from Dan , bullshit , the man was a legend and I hope someday "White Boy" sees the light of day , especially for his fans !!!!
+Peter Buonanno the whole album is on soundcloud..
pure class
I grew up listening to this song-I HAD NO IDEA IT WAS ORIGINALLY DAN HARTMAN'S!
