Harry Nilsson - Living Without You Lyrics
The milk truck hauls the sun up, the paper hits the door
The subway shakes my floor and I think about you
Time to face the dawning gray of another lonely day
It's so hard living without you.
It's so hard living without you.
Everyone's got something, they're trying to get some more
They got something to get up for but I ain't about to
Nothin's gonna happen, nothin's gonna change
It's so hard living without you.
It's so hard, it's so hard
It's so hard living without you.
So hard.

Harry Nilsson Living Without You Comments
This is problably the best song ive ever heard. What the fuck
I adore Harry and this one just kills me....
Nilsson is a god
best version Ive heard is Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
Due to your high recommendation I listened to the NGDB version and I had to stop it 30 seconds in so as not to ruin any feelings I had about this masterpiece. Dirt band is a fitting name.
my favorite harry Nilsson song
What a beautiful tune and performance
Great 70s song. Also done quite well by Manfred Mann.
Sweet, mellow singing voice. Don't forget "Everybody's Talkin'" and "Best Friend"
I like both Nilsson's version of this song & also Manfred Mann's version. There is also a version from 1970 by a guy named Denny Belline. I used to have the 45. His version is pretty good too. You can't really mess up such a great song!
My preference is Alan Price, Nilsson's for me is missing something, the ending is very poor !

One of the greatest Records ever made... Like Ella singing Cole Porter or Gershwin.
I had 12 copies over the years.... can't live without this album. - - marv.
beautiful song. even more beautiful version. Will always remind me of young love.
The cover of this song is soooo superior to any other version I've ever heard that I don't even know how you could possibly compare them. Sorry, but this guy is an absolute musical genius.... This is The Beatles favorite "band"... Just sayin'.
It's a great version to be sure. But Nilsson wasn't the Beatles' favourite 'band', it certainly was Lennon's. But George's favourite band was The Band, he has gone on record after listening to Music from Big Pink that he wished the Beatles would make albums like that.
You could get more specific but Harry was certainly the guy that they'd settle on collectively. He was absolutely the lone American Beatle.
Give me Alan Price's any day, Nilsson's just sounds so empty, emotionless and the ending is really awful !

Best cut off a brilliant album that Nilsson didn't need to do. I've heard a dozen versions of the tune - nobody else comes near this. Just piano and that voice. Chills whenever I hear it. And not even in my top ten Nilsson recordings. But certainly among his best albums.
This song and this album are true hidden masterpieces.
A masterpiece.
i like everything ive ever heard him do
Thank you so much for putting this song here.
This song is on "Nilsson plays Newman". Genius album with Randy Newman and Harry Nilsson sitting together playing these songs.... a big giant Wow. Get the album
Then you haven't heard Kelly Hogan's rendition.
Indeed! U the best ever Nilsson
Such a beautiful and touching song done by the greatest male singer to ever grace the planet. Harry Nilsson was the best - period.
In my opinion, The King is the best cover vocalist ever. 👉 👑
What a brilliant fucking vocalist.
I believe Manfred Mann's is superior to this. Definitely. And Harry Nilsson is one of my favorite singers.
Nilsson and Newman are BOTH great artists!
Nilsson blows Randy Newman out of the water. Hell, Nilsson could take a Slayer song and make it better. Harry had a knack for making songs his own no matter if he wrote them or not. Such an amazing talent. Too bad he's gone.
Fantastic, haunting, superlative, superlative, superlative. Harry Nilsson. This man's voice crawls around your brain and throws a comfortably blanket over it. Regarding this particular song, I only wish it was longer!
@weedermann There's a more rock-oriented cover by a 60s artist named Keith Shields. His version is on YouTube as well.
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band had a great version of this song on their album "Uncle Charlie & His Dog Teddy" w-a-y back in the early 70's. Nilsson's is too slow for me although I enjoy some of his lesser known songs. His album "Harry" was especially good, which included "I Guess the Lord Must Be in New York City". Randy Newman has written some amazing songs over the years.
Thanks for replying...wasn't Manfred Mann.
I never bother disagreeing with people over music--after all, there's no accounting for taste.
But seriously.
You believe the Manfred Mann version is superior to THIS?
In 1971 or 1972, a band recorded Randy Newman's "Living Without You". I can hear the song in my head but don't know who it was. It wasn't Nilsson, wasn't Newman--who can help me here.
Manfred Mann, late 1971 or early 1972.
wow....i never knew he covered this......I think manfred mann by far has done the best version of this
