Hank Williams Jr. - Feelin' Better Lyrics

Moved on down to sweet home Alabama in 1974
Had to get out of Music City and I had to get off the road
Woman she left and the people wouldn't let me sing nothin' but them old sad songs
Had to get high so I wouldn't cry you know they hit pretty close to home

I'm feelin' better now that I'm back on the road
Gettin' it together between Macon and Muscle Shoals

I started turnin' up loud and lookin' at the crowd and bendin' them guitar strings
Knew all the while though it was my style could they ever forget my name
Rocked 'em in Raleigh knocked ‘em out in Knoxville just couldn't do no wrong
People went wild and the band said child better keep on playin' your songs

I'm feelin' better now that I'm back on the road
Gettin' it together between Macon and Muscle Shoals

Well my life ain't the same and I had to change and I hope this music will show
A little bit less of cryin' in the beer and a little of my own soul
Waylon and Toy and all of them boys I wanna say thanks to you
Your fiddle and your steel make me play what I feel and I don't feel Lovesick Blues

I'm feelin' better now that I'm back on the road
Gettin' it together between Macon and Muscle Shoals

All I can do
Together in my sweet Alabama home
And I'm through forever of tryin' to put everybody on
I'm feelin' better I got hurt but I'm back on the road
Gettin' it together had to eat a little cornbread

Ah I've been eatin' that cornbread sleepin' on the featherbed
Drinkin' that homegrown writin' some new songs
Do it on your own

Eatin' that cornbread lovin' in a featherbed
Drinkin' that homegrown write a few new songs
This here music's homegrown
[ guitar ]
I'm feelin' better now that I'm back on the road
Gettin' it together between Macon and Muscle Shoals

  57. W.... H....

I think we all owe gratitude to the man behind the southern rock and outlaw country sound, Mr.Waylon Jennings. A very humble man who seldom took any credit for his intelligent property. He reminds me of a George Jones song,, on the chorus a brilliant line sneaks out when he sings the song she loved alot in her time. ( SHE STOOD IN THE SHADOWS SO OTHERS WOULD SHINE) that is how I see Waymore. Just glad to help.

  58. C.... O....

    Back on the road...

  60. P.... ....

    2019 & still a badass tune..

    P.... ....

Phillipmcr I only discovered this song this year lol. I liked Hank’s other popular songs like “Country Boy can Survive” and “All My Rowdy Friends” for decades. Then I heard this song and was like, “Why haven’t I heard this on the radio or anything before?”. Now it’s my favorite Hank Williams Jr. song. It’s a positive tune unlike some of his other songs. Don’t get me wrong I like a lot of them, it’s also nice to have that optimistic sound track playing too.

    P.... ....

Will still be badass in 2059
