Surprisingly tight, sophisticated band for a group that were only together for one record. Damn shame the record company put such pressure on the band to churn out album #2, if Hayward had been given just 6 months he might have gotten it together.

Pelican West - yet another seminal album from the incomparable 80s!

What an album!!!!

Thinking back on 'Pelican West', a lot of effort went into those pop arrangements, a few with jazz-flavored instrumental parts. When I wore the album out I was just a giddy preteen who loved the fun sound, the quirky videos, and the cutest frontman who turned me into a total Anglophile. But they were a genuinely talented band. I like Heyward's solo work, but I wish Haircut 100 would record again...

These guys wrote some fine songs and played them well. Great rhythm guitar work. The good songs they did were better than the whole lot of rubbish than say Oasis put out.

Saw these guys back in the early 80's during their first US tour, they were fun...!
