My dad went to prison year's ago for Manslaughter : he and his best friend was racing dads gto on the highway and drunk too. Dad hit a 18 wheeler head on. Killed his friend. He got. Out early. But it bothered him. All his life. He never talked about it. Much. He talked to me about it once. He loved that song. Branded man.. It will always remind me of dad

I worked at KFBC in Cheyenne in 1986. Every night a lady named Grandma Ryan called every night and requested Branded Man by Merle. Haggard. Her husband committed suicide because the black mark followed him.

When my mother was still here with us, this was her favorite Haggard song. She was a bit of a Hell Raiser in her early days and I think it followed her around a bit later on. This is probably the reason she could relate to the song. Regardless, we love and miss her --------

There'll never be another like him; he had it all; the greatest country voice ever, and a pretty nifty fiddler and guitar picker. Also, his tremendous creative talent for composing songs which will live down through the ages to come. Would like to say as well that Bonnie was such a wonderful part of the Merle "mystique" with her beautiful harmony and stage presence. I can't think of Merle without, in my mind's eye, seeing her in the background smiling and harmonizing right along with him. It would be nice to think that they're together again somewhere up there.

this is my Dad all the way, he passed away almost 2 years ago and I'm still trying to get over it... I feel so alone.
