Guess Who, The - Road Food Lyrics

ROAD FOOD
Jollywood, Jollywood, Chippa Chippa Chee Chee
ROAD FOOD
Drag queens, rhumba boogie, grabbin' for the prime time
ROAD FOOD
Bonafide, certified women in the washroom
ROAD FOOD
Better have a whiskey so I'll feel all right.

Each night smacks of new wonder
Catch her if you can, Kathy was a man
T.V. baby blue wires
Smile and nod your head, dead is live is dead.

I hear you walkin' down the hallway
I hear you sneakin' up the stairway
I hear you in the elevator
I know my name is in the paper
Hey, tell me what's this stuff you're sellin'
And all the stories that you're tellin'
I hear you walkin' down the hallway
I hear you sneakin' up the stairway.

ROAD FOOD
Appletown, Appletown, Chippa Chippa Chee Chee
ROAD FOOD
Hurricane wonder boy scratchin' for the scunge now
ROAD FOOD
Old Mark Mars is alive and well, Sir
ROAD FOOD
Better have a whiskey so I'll feel all right.

Guess Who, The Road Food Comments
  1. K.... J....

This untimely classic is the B-side to Clap For The Wolfman. I remember when I bought the 45 rpm & stumbled upon it, soon afterwards.

  2. S.... C....

One of my favourites songs by The Guess Who, by the way, the inner sleeve photo was taken in front of a stand of mexican tacos & burritos in L.A. where this LP was recorded 😉 kudos from Guadalajara, México 14/may/2019 ✌😎

  3. B.... C....

Shout out to Mark Mars, whatever happened to him?

    B.... C....

He is still alive and well.

  4. Z.... H....

Such a unique sound. That is what to me set them apart.

B side to Clap For the Wolfman! I remember flipping the 45 and finding this GEM!! Last year in 2018 I found a nice used vinyl lp copy!! Star Baby is the other great single off the album!! For me the greatest rock band out of the great white north!! Once I heard American Woman I was hooked.

  6. K.... M....

    awesome

  7. R.... B....

trying to understand the meaning of the lyrics in this song ..but i love this tune very melodic

    R.... B....

    Woman ?

    R.... B....

Don't try. Cummings is the only one who has a clue.

  8. 1.... ....

Kurt Winter plays one of the best fuzzed out echo guitar solos ever! The whole damn band rocked the way that only The Guess Who can!

  9. H.... P....

I remember cruising down the 401 in T.O. when this was released and just enjoying a new tune by these great Canadian musical icons (yes you could back then at certain times of the day).

  10. U.... H....

Albeit the universal transcending sound of the guitar of Kurt in the lead section is far beyond.

  11. M.... R....

I was in a band back when this album came out, we learned and played Road Food and Straighten Out in our live repertoire, great tunes by a great band; Burton Cummings was a great singer and rock piano player.

  12. C.... C....

Ah road food; sweet, sweet road food. Nourishment of the demented!

  13. R.... C....

Would they use this song in a Harvey's commercial?

    R.... C....

Burton didn't right his tunes for commercials.
