Rewatching blue valentine for the 10th time brought me here..I first watched it in theaters back in 2010 with my husband, we were newlyweds, in our early twenties and had a newborn who was 2 months old at the time. We loved seeing indie films, and it was our first date out in awhile, so we left our son with my in laws the night we saw this movie and it was so real/raw made us both cry, it was just so overwhelming. As we sat in that theater, still so in love and at a good place in our tiny simple lives, little did we know something similar would happen to us, we’d fight a lot and grow apart in the future, and I’d do something horrible I could never take back and he would as well. Now in present time, we are still married and our son is now 8, and I’m sitting here crying thinking of all we’ve been through and how now it’s still hard and not perfect, I don’t expect it to be, but we are still fighting for our marriage. Of all the times we’ve wanted to give up, we never did. Marriage IS for better, or for worse...and I couldn’t and still cannot imagine my life without him. We are now entering our 30’s and to still be at each other’s sides, is surreal to me. I thank god I met him. We would not have made it this far if we didn’t truly care or love each other anymore. If you ever read this.....I love you babe, thank you for being who you are and for loving me and not giving up.

@spooncastro Sort of ironic, because this sounds more like an original version, the one on Horn of Plenty is heavily distorted and slowed/pitched down.

@argh1989 Well it's not slowed or pitched down. It's just played on piano and only Ed Droste is singing (The harmonies are him as well). Basically this version is Daniel Rossen's take on the song. He wasn't in the band when the original was made. So despite it seeming ironic to you, it really isn't and this version is technically the alternate version.

Wow, someone who actually knows what they're talking about. The original was released on Grizzly Bear's debut album Horn of Plenty - back when the band only had one member, Ed Droste. This is the alternate version from the later album Friends, and really should be labeled as such.
