Green River Ordinance - Red Fire Night Lyrics

Meet me under that red fire night
Down by the willows and the Tennessee pines
I'll bring the whiskey, you bring the wine
Make a few memories on a red fire night

Throw your bags in my old Bronco
Three day weekend and it's time to go
Radio singing “let the good times roll”
Man don't it feel alright

20 dollars on a czech stop run
Riding fast trying to beat the sun
To hell with worries, no we ain't got none
Man don't it feel alright
Man don’t it feel alright

Meet me under that red fire night
Down by the willows and the Tennessee pines
I'll bring the whiskey, you bring the wine
Make a few memories on a red fire night

There's a magic when that west wind blows
Gets even better with a little George Jones
Lost track of time well some time ago
Man don't it feel alright
Out here where the stars shine bright

Meet me under that red fire night
Down by the willows and the Tennessee pines
I'll bring the whiskey, you bring the wine
Make a few memories on a red fire night

We'll hang our hat here tonight
Raise a glass and we'll toast to good times

Meet me under that red fire night
Down by the willows and the Tennessee pines
I'll bring the whiskey, you bring the wine
Make a few memories on a red fire night

Meet me under that red fire night
Our hearts like stars they burn so bright
I'll bring the rhythm, you bring the rhyme
Make a few memories on a red fire night
Make a few memories on a red fire night
Make a few memories on a red fire night

Love to powerful vocal entry to the song!

  2. J.... A....

That has to be out by Palo Pinto county or down in the Hill Country, no?

  3. J.... G....

Is there another catchy country song that goes like you bring the X, I’ll bring the Y? Maybe something about a red cup. Late 90’s early 00’s? Anyone?

  4. b.... ....

So this isn't country, but Old Town Road is? Go home music critics, you're drunk.

Memories of flying down a dirt back road in my dad's old pickup truck, hanging out with friends, ice cream on a hot summer day and feeling free without a care in the world. Man, this song brings such good feelings.

I was reading a whole article how this is not considered a Country Music Song by some of the major critics. As a humongous fan of Country Music, this sounds more Country than nearly any so called Country Music currently out right now. This song brings back memories of listening to Alabama's music. This song is Countrytastic! YeeHaaw! :)

    k.... ....

Considering the kind of "country" music major critics praise nowadays, I'm not surprised :/
But yeah this song is definitely country, and an awesome one at that!

    k.... ....

    I'd consider that a compliment.

  21. r.... ....

Not sure what the hoopla is all about. The feeling I get is about as "country" as it gets...

  22. G.... R....

How is this not eatin' up the charts?

  23. T.... D....

Grand Ole Orpy performance was off-the-chain!! Thanks guys.

  24. R.... B....

Great song! Is it possible for you all to make the violin music available to the public?!? Thanks!

What happened to you guys? Under Fire and Chasing Down the Wind were so promising. You were really carving out new territory, sounding like a wonderful meld between early U2 and barebones folk/pop. These new songs make you sound like the next country rock band ready to make a quick buck by riding the trends and singing about beer and ford trucks. I'm just so sad to see it come to this. What a wonderful journey you guys had to this point. At the very least, I hope you all blow up big, since this style of country is exactly what's selling heavily right now. You all deserve a payout, given all the hard work over the years.

Cudos to you guys for responding to a less than stellar comment. I'll keep my hopes up for the rest of the album.

    J.... F....

+James Fuller sadly i agree. while this is a nice feel good song, i know green river ordinance for "out of my hands" and "under fire" which are amazing rock albums with a little southern twist. this is just too country now. even some songs on chasing down the wind i was into.. but out of the songs they have released so far, 'red fire night' seems the most rocking :( the others are too country or bland for my liking, though they are good songs

    J.... F....

+James Fuller which is also really sad because i have not yet seen them live. and i want to see my favorite songs 'outside' 'heart of me' 'last october' 'healing touch' live but it seems they are country now and will no longer play their fan favorites. they even made endlessly country sounding now

    J.... F....

I think they saw a corner in the market and realized they could really break through if they went ahead and doubled down on the folk country trend. They had essentially hit their commercial ceiling with Under Fire. I appreciated Josh's reassurance, but strongly disagree with him that some songs on Fifteen are like their old music. It's a modern folk country album, through and through. That much was clear as soon as I heard the first few lines of "Simple Life." Too bad. I don't blame them for trying to stay relevant, because money is money. But as a long time fan, I feel pretty betrayed.

    J.... F....

It's been well over a year since the album came out Josh. Figured I'd give it that long before replying to this. I'm skeptical you'll even see this, but I'll take a shot since you replied a year or so ago

I'll put it pretty frankly, because I know you guys are good people just from seeing you at shows over the years, and hopefully you'll appreciate the honesty. I'm no longer a fan of your band, and feel somewhat betrayed. It was a great six years. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure millions of people love your new music, and they should. But Fifteen is sadly the generic, nu-folk country album I dreaded it would be. Everything from the lyrics to the production makes it very obvious what happened to this band. I don't fault you guys one bit. I totally get it. I hope you break through into mainstream country in a big way. I honestly really do.

Perhaps when the fame dies down a little and this cringe worthy genre of music is done with, you guys can go back and make a worthy successor to Under Fire, one of the greatest albums I've ever heard.
