Green Day - Holiday Lyrics
Say, hey!
Hear the sound of the falling rain
Coming down like an Armageddon flame (Hey!)
The shame
Hear the dogs howling out of key
To a hymn called "Faith and Misery" (Hey!)
And bleed, the company lost the war today
I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
On holiday
Hear the drum pounding out of time
To find, the money's on the other side
Can I get another Amen? (Amen!)
There's a flag wrapped around a score of men (Hey!)
A gag, a plastic bag on a monument
I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
On holiday
(Hey!)
(Say, hey!)
"The representative from California has the floor"
Sieg Heil to the president Gasman
Bombs away is your punishment
Pulverize the Eiffel towers
Who criticize your government
Bang bang goes the broken glass and
Kill all the fags that don't agree
Trials by fire, setting fire
Is not a way that's meant for me
Just cause (hey, hey, hey), just cause, because we're outlaws yeah!
I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
This is our lives on holiday

最高!!supreme!!
wuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
I got into Greenday during their Basket Case Album, before they became mainstream, this album is what got their start into mainstream, this album was the end of my Greenday days, but, Holiday was the only song that I like from this album. Still great after 15 years later. I almost forgot about Greenday, until they made an appearance at the Game Awards. Dam, age doesnt look like it's been too kind to Billie Joe, but he still sings pretty well, and the rest of Greenday still performs pretty well. I miss the 90s
The green screen shook the entire Hollywood.
No offense.
@veiwer96
Thanks.

Напишу по-русски. Я настолько люблю эту песню, что, зная на среднем уровне английский, выучил ее наизусть.
'll write in Russian. I love this song so much that, knowing English at an average level, I learned it by heart.

december 2019 ?
Ok, i think they wrote it in the independence holiday, because it makes more sense than Christmas
The music, for me, is a satire about the eua and its Future, and they talk about bombs and some presidents, they are making funny and alerting us about the wars and etc.
Happy Birthday to Frank Edwin Wright III aka Tre Cool.12-9-72
Omg that is so dangerous. They should wear their seatbelt. How did they not fall out of the car?

I can’t think of another Billie joe Armstrong idk why
This song is about the American government and society during the Iraqi War. It begins by commenting on how the thousands of dead Americans and Iraqis are nameless to the average American citizen. This song expresses resentment with the corporate greed and corruption involved in the "rebuilding" effort, and shows how the average protester realizes that the pro-war money involved has more power than they can ever have. It also points out the irony of the Christian right-wing feeling religiously justified in this war: "Can I get another 'Amen'? There's a flag wrapped around the score of men."
This follows the story on the album. Jesus of Suburbia has just left town and he's living his life on the streets ("Hear the sound of the falling rain..."). He's speaking out loud and acting in vain, but it seems like he's talking himself into believing that running away was the right thing to do, explaining his reasons of discontent to himself. He still feels alone, and shunned from society, but it seems he feels a little more self-confidence and happiness out on the road. It's Jesus of Suburbia yelling out and expressing his own dead beliefs onto the world. Like screaming into mid air.
To go "On Holiday" is to go on vacation. So this is basically like an escape, a runaway. This leads us into Boulevard Of Broken Dreams
This is often considered an anti-American song, but on Green Day's Bullet In A Bible DVD, Armstrong says, "This song is not anti-American, its anti-war."
Billie Joe Armstrong told Q magazine May 2009 that sometimes he doesn't know where he gets his songs from. For instance, when he found himself singing "Sieg Heil to the president gas man" on this number, he freaked himself out. He said: "It was kind of like, Where was this coming from? It was taking an ugly picture and painting it uglier. The thing that justifies it is that it was true."
While the song is a dig at conservative agendas, it doesn't entirely spare liberals. Armstrong told MTV: "I am anti-war, so a lot of [the album] has to do with that, and there's different sides of it too. Like, there's one line that sort of messes with liberals a little too, where it says, 'Hear the drum pounding out of time/ Another protester has crossed the line/ To find the money's on the other side.'" He continues. "That song ['Holiday'] is about this mishmash of people with all these strong opinions who really can't agree, and leaving [decisions] to the person who's sort of standing in the middle confused and overwhelmed."
The music video is one of several that Samuel Bayer directed for Green Day. "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams," "Wake Me Up When September Ends" and "American Idiot."
This song has been featured in the 2006 comedy film, Accepted. It was also used as the goal song of the Vancouver Canucks during their run to the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals. The Canucks started using the song again for the goal song at the beginning of the 2018-19 NHL season. The song also appeared in an episode of CSI: NY. This song was also featured in the soundtrack of the video game Tony Hawk's American Wasteland.

The reasons why Green Day is Hated
Green Day is Hated cause with the Dookie album when they "sold out" and went major label. Punks get cranky about people making money,All their songs sound the same, they’re too political, they lost their punk edge and went too mainstream, they’re sellouts, infusing their classic punk influences with something a bit more "mainstream" or on the pop side, and the hate train was bound to ensue, change in sound (people don't like change in the music they love),2004 raging fangirls turned a lot of people away
So those are the reasons why Green Day is Hated
And BTW I still love Green Day even though they’re Hated ❤️❤️❤️❤️
