the stuff of legends. seriously this is a top 20 punk album, top 10 in my opinion. always loved green days pop punk sound before pop punk went full retard. lyrics always relatable, classic green day. this is the friendzone album. and the punk harmonies they got on this album are gold. I like their shit up to insomniac and after that I don't really care for them much. but 39 smooth plus the 2 EPs is just about the greatest thing ever recorded.

They still have that special Green Day vibe though, and probably always will. Enjoy it for what it is. The real magic of Dry Ice is it's emotional desperation, and there's no reason for anyone to hear it from them ever again.
They're all married, they're all adults, and they're all multi-millionaires. That means, no more Dry Ice.

Probably the saddest one too, but I love it as well.
Just like an aging, wrinkly, fat old wife that smells like decaying fish, Dry Ice is an old love for me. I'll never forget her, even though she's right here beside me right now.
It's just that I'm well into my 40s, and she's gotten old and fat. But, the classic Green Day groove is still there :)

Well....in the 90's pop punk was kinda thrown into alternative to be fair. I mean alt pretty much described anything not pop from 1990-2000.




As for the leads....i wondered for a long time why Billie Joe gave up on them until i realised that.....his soloing skills seemed ok on the surface but were in fact limited, listen to all the solos on this record and they all follow an extremely similar pattern. As a soloist he was a bit of a one trick pony and i think it's why he gave up on them. I mean i like them but they're really repetitive (then again so are most of their song structures because punk but you know...)
