is it a good version? Jd Westmoreland of rumpke mountain boys grew up in Greens house due to his parents writing n performing with Green. I wanna hear a cover from them of this n more of Al's cuts. This was music!!

Big Sugar covers this as well. Gordie Johnson from Big Sugar is the producer on the Gov't Mule-Mighty High album, so my guess is he suggested the song would be a great one for Gov't Mule to cover.

It is truly a shame that this music has been abandoned for the crap that is called hip hop or rap.R.I.P Aretha,James Brown and the many,many others who brought this music to life.Great stuff.

I find that even though I'm 29 years old I don't tend to listen to any of today's music, they completely just cancel out real soul music and its just so sad that nobody sings this type of music anymore, the rand b all sounds pretty much the same, the most of the rap the same thing and all the other genres its like everybody is always trying to copy each other, there is no need for that, you can always tell which music is the old school type, the beats sound so fresh, you could hear the instruments: the drums trumpets, the organ, now everything is computerized so it just never sounds the same as songs like this

You should listen to the underground hip hop with soul samples like Roc Marciano or Conway

Check the Delvon Lamarr organ Trio out of Seattle and their other band The True loves. they got it goin on. Jimmy James plays a mean funky axe and his crew play their asses off.

This song man......long live Memphis, Stax, Mississippi, Arkie soul music. Tugs at the soul of this middle aged, white Yankee.

more artists(if you can call them that) should listen to older music just to see where this all came from. that way they can have a way better feel on where they should really take it. somewhere along the line , it definitely was lost.

Hip hop samplers actually keep a lot of old soul artists relevant. Real cratediggers and loopheads go find the original song when they hear a dope sample and support the artist by either word of mouth or buying their classics.
