Grateful Dead - The Other One Lyrics

Spanish lady come to me, she lays on me this rose
It rainbow spirals round and round, it trembles and explodes
It left a smoking crater of my mind I like to blow away
But the heat came round and busted me for smiling on a cloudy day

Coming, coming, coming around
Coming around, coming around, in a circle
Coming, coming, coming around
Coming around, coming around, in a circle

Escaping through the lily fields, I came across an empty space
It trembled and exploded, left a bus stop in its place
The bus came by and I got on, that's when it all began
There was Cowboy Neal at the wheel of the bus to never ever land

Coming, coming, coming around
Coming around, coming around, in a circle
Coming, coming, coming around
Coming around, coming around, in a circle

I never realized till this day that the lyrics are written as a nursery rhyme would be written. U can substitute the lyrics of Mary had a little lamb perfectly. Try it!

  6. h.... ....

Just curious, I know Krutz was drumming alone early in the 60's and then alone again in the early 70's, did Mickie ever drum alone with the dead on stage? If so, is there a recording of the concert?

    h.... ....

    Better with a single drummer.

Saw Dead and Co last week at Deer Creek on some Lucy, there were about 3 times throughout the show I thought they were gonna play this, but they never did. Still the best concert I’ve ever seen

Loosely related musically, but if this catches your fancy, I highly recommend the Fuzz Self titled album. Imagine Black Sabbath with Jimi Hendrix on lead guitar and Billy Corgan on vocals

  70. J.... ....

screw the political bullshit! Hello! THE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC! ISN'T THAT WHAT WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE GETTING FROM THIS YOUTUBE VIDEO??!

    J.... ....

Luckily I lived in a time when sophisticated, real music made by humans playing musical instruments was what constituted a recording artist; not wannabe third-stringers with nothing but a mike and a rhythm machine. I got to see all the bassists you mentioned live in this lifetime, Matthew, every one except Jack (don't think I've ever had the pleasure). But John Paul Jones, Ged, Entwistle (sitting 3 feet away from him mind) as well as Mr. Lesh (1972) were sometimes hard to focus on when surrounded by chaps named Moon, Garcia, Page, Alex Lifeson and Bonham. Rock was only eleven years old when The Warlocks changed their name to the Dead. I got to see some of that, luckily. Those were the days.

    J.... ....

Matthew, reading your memories jogged some of mine---thanks for that. A happy accident of birth made me a teenager when all the classic bands were operative. I saw my first concert (Led Zeppelin Aug 4 1969) a week before Sharon Tate & co. were murdered and two weeks before Woodstock. Brian Jones himself had been killed a month earlier in July (when man walked on the moon the first time). Since then I saw every band I wanted to with four exceptions: Beatles, Cream, Mothers of Invention & Blue Cheer. Odd list, huh? Saw the famous San Francisco groups: Quicksilver, Airplane & Dead as well as the famous L.A. bands, among them The Doors and The Eagles (saw the Eags twice, very early and very late in the 70s, quantum stretch that). Neil Young (1973) when he still had his voice; The Police (1982) when Sting still had his; the second performance of seven of Pink Floyd in L.A. (1980) playing The Wall live; Rush in January 1977 in a 1200 seat hall where only 400 seats had people sitting in them; Dylan with The Band (1974), Jeff Beck at a movie theater with a double balcony with Tim Bogert, Carmine Appice & Screaming Lord Sutch---Sutch sang the first two or three songs until Beck signaled to him to exit stage left and the audience didn't see Sutch again. But the granddaddies of them all had to be two Rolling Stones concerts in one day ($6 early show, $5 late show, July 1972) right after Exile on Main St. was released; and Led Zeppelin's 1973 shows in Dallas & Ft. Worth, two consecutive nights that took years to recuperate from. Better than their movie!

    J.... ....

In the same old-timey movie theater where Jeff Beck played, the original Mahavishnu Orchestra (Cobham, Hammer, et al.) were hellafied, Matthew, I'm surprised I don't have a dent in my forehead. More recently, the Stones released a DVD of their 1978 small hall show in Ft. Worth, they only played six or seven smaller venues during that massive stadium tour---it was THE coveted ticket in Ft. Worth that summer, only about 2000 available. I scrambled to score one. Suddenly and unexpectedly tickets went on sale mid-afternoon two hours after a single radio announcement---all gone in an hour. This was the last time I saw the Stones (with only one or two sidemen instead of 11 or 14) in a small theater atmosphere with a floor seat, not in the bleachers. Anyway the officially-released DVD show is gritty and exciting; but in person I thought Peter Tosh's band blew them off the stage. That's not to say the Stones sucked, because they sure DID NOT. But they had to follow Tosh's act that night, which was smokin'.

    J.... ....

Thanks, MMB, I'm just an old man with my 'stories.' I forgot to mention Hendrix (told you I was elderly). I've only had two front row seats in my life and Jimi was one of them. That night Mitch Mitchell played double bass Ludwigs I watched roadies nail to the stage before Hendrix's show, to combat the dreaded bass drum creep. An oddly disappointing short set followed, Jim & Mitch hindered every measure of the way by the worst bass player to have ever laid eyes on one. It was not Noel Redding.

    J.... ....

When the Dead elected early on to let audiences tape them their legacy began to flower. I can't believe how good they sound on Dick's Picks, etc. Live music is the real deal going down.

As per Patton, compared to this, all other forms of human endeavor shrink to insignificance. It's a very Christian song. "Don't you know it's better that one man die than the whole nation perish?" "The solemn Sun looked down on Him...His mother stood but frowned on Him...and all the others sound on Him ('If you're the Son of God why don't you get down off the cross?') but it doesn't seem to matter" (Father, why have you forsaken me?) But as the day was ending.. His mind remained unbending.

hartford 72, during the 'gentle' part, they made the entire first five rows kind of--hard to explain--we all groaned as the thing swept over and through us all, like currents affecting kelp in the sea---we collectively went whoa------of course the purple guy at the door handing out owsley acid may have had something to do with it--but it was amazing--unforgettable to this day--it was like we got out of the way of it while embracing it--ya had to be there---i'm still there!--leave me there please
