It is odd, how on many times I saw Jerrry play with highly rated guitarists- like Santana and Cipolina- while he was very polite, in the end he just dominated.
@Bill Buchanan I strongly disagree with your comment! I think it is all about intent, Jerry does not dominate! He is a gracious host! Cipollina knocks this song up more than a couple pegs , his energy, fire and treble crunch lifts this special version of this song to exactly where it should be , burned in my mind like a completely different take on the Dead's many many other versions! Obviously Cipollina was the only other guitar player who could stand on that stage that night and celebrate this historic event! His treble crunch ,precise timing, and Bigsby vibrato provide a perfect foil for Jerry and the rest of the band! Playin in the band is not about dominating! It is about making the entire band sound better. I think this performance demonstrates this perfectly. The harp players too, this was a wild wild party ,the level of friendship, musicianship and professionalism are beyond compare! These gentlemen are CAPOS and in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make!
