Graffiti6 - Goodbye Geoffrey Drake Lyrics
We are born in silence, there's nothing
Or no one to blame.
Soon we learn to fight, or die trying,
So my father said.
Said we can still be friends, that don't mean nothing
You never loved, you'd just pretend, or something.
Darlin' you really should have said
Cause all I wanted was a little love.
All I needed was a little care.
All I wanted was a little love and tenderness yeah yeah.
I hear the siren blaze in the distance.
Her blood still on my hands,
But there's no way I would hide cause I loved her.
Your name is Geoffrey Drake, and you're under arrest he said
And led me down the road in chains, neighbors all turned their heads.
Goodbye Geoffrey Drake, a name they never will forget
As poison rushes through my veins, steals my final breath.
But all I wanted was a little love.
All I needed was a little care.
All I wanted was a little love and tenderness, yeah yeah yeah.
We all die in silence, there's nothing.
Only ourselves to blame.
Too much fight, no love gets you nowhere.
I wish my mother had stayed.
Cause all I wanted was a little love.
All I needed was a little care.
All I wanted was a little love and tenderness, yeah yeah yeah.
All I wanted was a little love.
All I wanted was a little care.
All I needed was a little love and tenderness, yeah yeah

Graffiti6 Goodbye Geoffrey Drake Comments
The fact that the song is being sung by a guy but from the intimate perspective of a chick makes this song special and gives it cachet.
These guys remind me of Wham (yes I'm old enough that I was there when they 'Made it Big' to paraphrase one of their album titles). There were flashes of brilliance with Wham like this song obviously has and these guys in the videos kind of remind me of Wham plus the sort of soulful singing George Michael leaned toward that style too from the early days. Incredible song this.
Wow blow me away man that's good.
luv it!!!
Such a wonderful and sad tune
@Matt Pettersen
Thank you Parenthood. Great song.
Parenthood brought me here , then when I saw Jamie I knew that I knew him from before he was playing a singer in Step up 1 when they all went to the see their friend sing on stage , he is truly talented :))

Just happened on to them - They're great ! !
My favorite song by them :)
@ jbrito, you are so intuitive! and very insightful to women, thank you for being the wonderful person that you are. I wish more people would open their hearts and minds, and relize we all need a little more love, a little care, a little more tenderness. cuz in the end we all die alone. cruznbenicia

Heard this last night on parenthood. Thank God for Shazam. Great song
They played this song on an episode of the series Parenthood. Glad they did.
@BASSETTI8 It's bittersweet isn't it?
@RangedReCoN117 I agree with you 100%. This band somewhat reminds me of Foster the People but now they are getting really famous. I like having Graffiti6 to myself. Call me selfish, I don't care. :)
