Grace Jones - The Fashion Show Lyrics
[Jean-Paul Goude:] "She's born in Jamaica, raised in America.. and she was really an American girl, I mean, with Jamaican parents."
Uh, baby.. Uh-huh
Keep it up, keep it up
Keep it up
Slave to the rhythm
Uh baby
To the rhythm
Don't cry
Your life is the rhythm
You work to the rhythm
To the rhythm, to the rhythm, uh
To the rhythm
Uh, baby
To the rhythm, to the rhythm, uh
To the rhythm
You slave to the rhythm
To the rhythm, to the rhythm, uh
To the rhythm, to the rhythm
To the rhythm, to the rhythm
To the rhythm, to the rhythm, uh
To the rhythm
Work all day as men who know
Work all day to keep the flow
To the rhythm, to the rhythm, uh
To the rhythm
To keep the flow
To the rhythm, to the rhythm, uh
To the rhythm
Build on up
Don't break the chain
Sparks will fly
Keep it up, keep it up
See, never stop the action
Keep it up
[Jean-Paul Goude:] "I mean all black people were just, you know ‘do it to me, sock it to me’ and all that stuff, and there she was, you know, singing ‘La Vie en Rose’ in French. It was great, you know. So I thought what a wonderful, erm, perspective. No I never saw her at a fashion show."

Still my favorite by Ms. Jones awesome lyrics and music love the bass. 🌠🌠🌠
FYI the US Island Domestic release of SLAVE TO THE RHYTHM: THE RHYTHM IN 8 BITS is the CD with the complete concept piece intact. The entire piece is a seamless mix from track to track, woven with bits of an interview by Paul Morley of ZTT. One of the most interesting album concepts I've ever heard (and enjoyed for years since it was released).
Another FYI: Stephen Lipson worked with Trevor Horn but went into production himself eventually. He produced another ZTT art piece w/Claudia Brucken and Thomas Leer as ACT called LAUGHTER, TEARS and RAGE. Another sonic masterpiece collection of music you just won't find much these days. Music was a bigger deal in and of itself even back in the cheesy 80's.
I have owned this CD since 1990. Love it!!!! With out a doubt the most listened-to CD I have.
Thank you so much for uploading this awesome piece!!!! It´s the version of the LP I was ever looking for since I don´t have a analog record player. I do have the CD but there this sond is faded down at 4:20. Unbelievable! Thanx again, you made my day!!! :-)
Bass is by Steve Lipson, who is also a record producer, awesome
Best version with a killing bass line....
One of the SICKEST grooves EVER!!! Always makes me wanna go out and find a beautiful sexy lady, drink LOTS of champagne, take 3 tabs each of ecstasy, and then proceed to dance and fuck ALL NIGHT in my apartment!!!
@Sean Sherrod Yes!!!! Exactly! Island could produce some killer shit.
