Steve is my absolute favorite singer. I wish he would of taken better care of his voice earlier. I blame him for getting into drugs and singing without enough rest. But the old Journey songs are too high to sing every night. That is what killed his high register way too early in his career.

David Watson well it’s the band manager who overbooked Journey and put them on a punishing touring schedule. When Steve Perry wanted to reduce the touring, wouldn’t listen to him.

David Watson Steve Perry got out before he was too much into drugs. He only had alcohol or drugs after the concerts he said in interviews because otherwise they affected his singing and voice during the shows. I think his voice just matured and became deeper, he can still hit the high notes. His voice is still amazing.
