Goldsboro, Bobby - Voodoo Woman Lyrics

You make a rose afraid to grow
You make a wind forget to blow
You make the sun up in the sky forget to shine
And you are driving me out of my mind, now

You make a bell forget to ring
You make a bird forget to sing
You make a weeping willow tree forget to cry
And you bring clouds that cover up the sky now

You're a voodoo woman, that's plain to see
You're a voodoo woman, so stay away from me

You make a dog forget to growl
You make the wind forget to howl
And voodoo woman you break every heart you see
So voodoo woman stay away from me now

You're a voodoo woman, that's plain to see
You're a voodoo woman, so stay away from me

You make a dog forget to growl
You make the wind forget to howl
And voodoo woman you break every heart you see
So voodoo woman stay away from me

On this day in 1965 {April 24h} the '1965 Shower of Stars' tour made a stop at the Memorial Auditorium in Utica, NY; the concert started at 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon and a ticket cost $2...
One of the tour's acts was Bobby Goldsboro, at the time he didn't have a record on Billboard's Top 100 chart, but two weeks earlier his "Little Things" was at position #33, that was also it's thirteenth and final week on the chart. It had peaked at #13 {for 1 week} the month before on March 21st...
And the day after the Utica concert, his "Voodoo Woman" entered the Top 100 at position #99, eight weeks later it would peak at #27 {for 1 week} and it spent eleven weeks on the Top 100...
Between 1961 and 1973 the Marianna, Florida native had twenty-six Top 100 records; two* made the Top 10 with one reaching #1, "Honey", for three weeks in 1968...
Besides "Honey", his other Top 10 record was "See The Funny Little Clown", it peaked at #9 {for 1 week} on March 8th, 1964...
Bobby Goldsboro celebrated his 78th birthday four months ago on January 18th, 2019...
    * He just missed having a third Top 10 record when his "Watching Scotty Grow" peaked at #11 in 1971...
Additional note: Other acts on the tour included Chad and Jeremy, the Reflections, Vic Dana, Gary Lewis and the Playboys, the Crystals, Brian Hyland, Bill Black's Combo and the headliner and closing act, Gene Pitney...

This is probably Bobby's greatest song and he had a bunch of cool tunes like "Little Things" and "If You Got A Heart"  before "Honey" and his 70's output ruined his reputation irreparably.  Ride on, little broomstick cowboy...
