The song is written and originally recorded by LAURA NYRO, in 1966. It has become iconic in western culture as a phrase and song, and has featured in movies and tv shows such as Glee, the Simpsons, and Ally McBeal.

One of my favourite songs Glee ever did. Jayma has one of my favourite voices from the show, I really the writers had given her more opportunities to display her brilliant vocals. They're so sweet and girly and emotive, absolutely beautiful.

The song was originally written by 18 year old musical prodigy Laura Nyro. Her version fell flat and did not chart but the manager of the 5th Dimension heard the song and liked its potential. It just so happened that Billy Davis and Marilyn Mcoo of the group were engaged. They polished the song up and let Marilyn's fantastic range take over. The song skyrocketed to Number 1 on the charts and stayed there for three weeks. The song has been a standard ever since and that is why Glee covered it.

Lea has had like two solos this season..... Diana has had two solos.... Jayma one. Jenna and Mike had a huge duet. Damian has had at least 4 or 5. Samuel has had one. Amber has had 5. Puck has had one. Sugar has had one ;). Santana.... I don't even know. Why does everyone complain about Lea having none? And why does no one complain about Sugar and Puck? You gotta thik Sugar will be getting a solo soon. She'll probably take vocal lessons or something and get to sing. Puck needs a solo also.

I'd rather say what's up with having almost no adults at all in glee this season !
They have screentime every two/three episodes.
The episodes should have a better teen/adults screentime ratio.

@Kiya4ever maybe Rachel is selfish, but she's also the character that has grown the most in. She's understood the importance of team work, she now loves her friends and she supports them, there are plenty of examples: she helped Kurt when he joined the Warblers, she told the truth about the election so he wouldn't get suspended, she allowed Mercedes to sing the last song in the night of neglect show, she tried to help Quinn when she went through her pink hair phase...she's a lot more mature now.

Ok, first of all, the reason Rachel gets so many solo is because, surprise, she's the show's LEAD. Rachel is the star of the show and I actually think she deserves more solos, she's only had two this season. Second of all, why the hell did you brought up Lea, Naya or Amber when this is a Jayma song? Let's focus on this great character and her sweet voice ok?
