Gill, Vince - Kindly Keep It Country Lyrics
If you're gonna play the jukebox
Would you kindly keep it country
'Cause I'm feelin' so lonely tonight
Oh please play a sad song about a heart that's just been stepped on
Would you kindly keep it country for me tonight
I'd get up off this bar stool if you'd play something we could dance to
Oh, a song about a love that's gone astray
Oh I love to hear 'em sing about the misery and pain
Would you kindly keep it country for me tonight
Oh please play a sad song about a heart that's just been stepped on
Would you kindly keep it country for me tonight
Would you kindly keep it country for me tonight

I just love this song. It's been my favorite Vince Gill song for a long time. The crying of that Steel brings tears to my eyes and joy to my heart.

This album "The Key" demonstrates Vince's versatility in his music. I love the album and there is not a day that I don't play it. Bakersfield and These Days are amazing and there are so many great songs that I wish we can hear them over the radio, too, so many more people would appreciate Vince's artistic brilliance.
I wore out three cassetts of The Key....probably my favorite Vince album. I always thought of this as being a tribute to his "old man" as he called The Judge. He did love his dad and I could listen to stories about his growing up forever. Title song is the best of the bunch and didn't think Vince would ever be able to sing that one without crying cause it is allll about his father and came out just after he died. Vince's true talent came out in that one. Sentimental, but filled with great music. My favorite!
I agree please do what ever it takes to save country music and do it now!!!
I am behind KEEP IT COUNTRY all the Way !!!!!!!!!!!!
John Ray Baxter nn.
I am waiting to get the album 'The key'. 'These Days ' is amazing, too. I love the song 'Little Brother' in it with Vince's beautifully played guitar solo. 'Bakersfield' is great. I am wondering about another one like it except with 4 extra songs added to the original. There are so many wonderful songs by Vince. Thank you, Vince!
Thank you for uploading this!
Would it be too much to ask of you to do the same with another great song from the same album - "I'll Take Texas"? Please!
heard this for the first time the other day; so glad I found it; thanks for sharing
So many of his songs play that crying steel guitar: this one, When I Call Your Name, Look at Us, Never Knew Lonely, Pocket Full of Gold, Which Bridge to Cross (which one to burn), My Kind of Woman. Yes, let's keep it Country!
THE STEEL GUITAR PLAYER IS NOBODY NEW...... HE PLAYED ON MOST ALL SONGS OF SOME GUY NAMED CONWAY TWITTY.
@Mike Cosby, according to Shannon's notes, as she left us to be with Jesus. Lisa Silver, Lisa Cochran, Marabeth Jordan, John Ivey, Michael Eldred, and Dennis Wilson harmony vocals. Papa John Hughey, ol' buttermilk, on pedal steel. Yes he played on many Conway Twitty records. As did Pete Drake, Lew Houston, Gene Jones, and several Road players when his normal player was ill or recording.
My sentiments exactly!
God Bless,
Jeff :)
Love Vince Gill
Real Country music we miss you!
That's what "COUNTRY" sounds like!!!!!
That's a great one too. the whole album is great.
this is great song here top 5 for me,,but top one aint even on this site,,its called,,all those years from vince,,someone needs to upload that song
OK, The Key is now my second favorite VG album. His new one with Paul Franklin, Bakersfield, is amazing! All classics by Merle Haggard and Buck Owens and they're done right!
thanks for uploading. This is a great, great country song - tops anything George Jones, Alan Jackson, or any of the others EVER did. Simple, powerful lyrics. A song just made for his voice and that awesome steel guitar. What harmonies. What a story. Many barstools around the world with this song telling the same story.
A great song off of my favorite Vince Gill album. He's so amazingly talented!
thank you for uploading, vince is one of my favourite singers, great song
