Gerry And The Pacemakers - Hello Little Girl Lyrics

Hello little girl
Hello little girl
Hello little girl

When I see you every day
I say, hello little girl
When you're passing on your way
I say, hello little girl
When I see you passing by
I cry, hello little girl
When I try to catch your eye
I cry, hello little girl

I send you flowers but you don't care
You never seem to see me standin' there
I often wonder what you're thinkin' of
I hope it's me and love, love, love
So I hope there'll come a day when
You say, you're my little girl

It's not the first time
That it's happened to me
It's been a long, lonely time
And it's so funny, so funny to see
That I'm about to lose my mind, mind, mind
So I hope there'll come a day when
You say, you're my little girl

You're my little girl
You're my little girl
Oh yeah, you're my little girl

Horrible version. The Fourmost do this the best.

  3. V.... O....

Boneless song. I don't get what would get me to get to listen to this once again.

    V.... O....

    You've got a get fetish..get me? :)

    V.... O....

@sterpumihai I mean, the band and the writers are all great, square and fair and fine but this song certainly ain't got nothing to get hung about. Have you got any more up there?

  4. E.... V....

    ROCK HARD

  5. A.... R....

This sounds more like a rough demo. The hit version by the Fourmost is far more polished - and in tune!

  6. A.... L....

Definitely not one of GATP's better songs.

  7. C.... T....

I like the Nowhere boy version

    C.... T....

DGJ P Yeah I like that version the best tbh

  8. M.... ....

He was 18 or maybe younger, when John wrote this! I love the melody of this song, yes, it's not his best but a really good song IMO

  9. S.... W....

Sorry for coming into this discussion a few years late LOL! But, I think both the Beatles version and Gerry and the Pacemakers Version of this song is good. It's like "how do you do it?" Both versions are really good as far as I'm concerned.

  10. M.... G....

    better than Beatles !!

    M.... G....

You mean this song? or the Band? If band then, dislikee... jk. Don't think as good but I have respect for your opinion

  11. h.... c....

    well hello little girl!!!!

  12. T.... H....

    This songs about you mary

  13. M.... ....

The absolute best version of this tune!!! - Every other rendition I've ever heard has been dreadfully atrocious!!!

  14. M.... R....

Could not stand this................when I was a teenager, what a load of c....

    M.... R....

Lennon likely hated it too tbf. Probably why he gave it away. I think it's an okay ditty. No big crime not to like it even way back then, lol.

    M.... R....

It's not bad for a first song and it was probably the highlight of their 1960 sets. Good thing he got better at songwriting, though.

    M.... R....

    BlackMonk66 John Lennon wrote this

    M.... R....

I don't think it's all that great either.

    M.... R....

Mary, what would you say to Gerry and the Pacemakers if you had the chance?

  15. C.... K....

Not THAT rare...Easy to find at the library..Think that this version is more "lively" than the version from The Beatles...Guess that is a matter of taste...

  16. g.... ....

I agree. And what's witht he barely audible harmonies. This song ought to be...boisterous.

  17. R.... C....

The only Merseybeat bands that I know ,that did this song was The Beatles,The Fourmost, and Gerry and The Pacemakers.

    R.... C....

    That's quite a concidence I must say!

  18. M.... ....

@lovegenderless believe me you really really helped like i said, i love this song, but i couldn't play it ): because i got confused when i was getting the chords, and the change of key came, i didn't even notice lol haha thanks for all. CHEERS , check my setlist if you like to, Thanks again :D

  19. C.... D....

    @MYNAMEISIKN

    Bb Gm Cm F7
Cm F7 Bb F is the main verse section

Bb Gm Cm F7 is the second section

then they change keys, up a half step (one fret):

    B G#m C#m F#7 etc

    Good luck!

  20. C.... D....

I like the Fourmost version - it's seems a lot more loose and limber, they are having more fun. Gerry & his gang sound nervous on this take.

  21. M.... ....

Is there a musician who can tell me the chords for this song ? Because i cant take it by ear, i'm really having a hard time, and the tabs ,i only find in G , that is the wrong key -_________- THANKS !

  22. B.... L....

    @psychlos21

Basically all the bands from Merseyside piggybacked off The Beatles and followed them to America. Most of them did copy The Beatles in one way or another

  23. R.... C....

@novapup2001 You can say that,John Lennon wrote it

  24. A.... ....

    johnnn! <3

  25. A.... L....

I dont like. Beatles VErsion is Better

  26. L.... ....

@michelescoones Mehhh, I agree, this is the cleanest, most precise recording of this song. I like the key change in the middle, the melodic solo, the vocal, etc... but it's a John Lennon tune, and I think he sounds best singing it.
"When I see you every day I say 'mhmm'.."
That 'mhmm' is a very cheekish, Lennon-y device. Boyishly funny, and with a smirk on his face as he sings it.
Still, I like this version quite a lot.

  27. D.... W....

I think that this is a good version of the song.

  28. L.... ....

Haha, nice little McCartney impression at the beginning there! 1-2-3-4!

    L.... ....

LikeWiseLikeYou this song was around the 50's so technically he's not copying

    L.... ....

@Geo Figueroa He means the count-in to "I Saw Her Standing There."

  29. E.... ....

I prefer The Silver Beatles original but both are amazing.

  30. p.... ....

1, 2, 3, 4.. what? Hey, let's rip off the beginning of Saw Her Standing There (yeah great idea Gerry) I am sorry but Gerry and the Pacemakers make me want to flatline. How did they get away with imitating the Beatles? The Beatles are the greatest of all time... no band compares...

    p.... ....

psychlos21 this song was around the 50's how did they rip the Beatles off explain please

    p.... ....

Geo Figueroa Think it was '62

    p.... ....

A lot of these bands had the same Schlick going on at the time and some even helped each other out as evident with Lennon and McCartney giving some of their written songs for others. They were friends with Gerry, and I don’t think the counting in the beginning copies the Beatles. Every band does that so they know when to start playing together. Just listen to other Beatles songs where there is another count up that’s clearly part of the recording process and not the song.

  31. g.... ....

Great to hear this song by these guys.

  32. l.... ....

    Ha-How?

  33. L.... ....

Back when the beatles first started off they had some hard competition against these guys but now you think... "Why?" lol Beatles Forever!

  34. T.... ....

This is wretched!!!!!!!!!!!!! The beatles version is five hundered times better. they got the rhythym wrong too!! yuck. omg and the guitar solo is wretcched nooooooo one of my favorite songs ripped to shreds

  35. R.... C....

    Yeah pretty much.

  36. B.... G....

I prefer the Fourmost version, catch it on YouTube, not that keen on this version.

  37. n.... ....

Didn't just about all Merseybeat bands cover this tune?
