George Thorogood And The Destroyers - No Particular Place To Go Lyrics
Riding along in my automobile
My baby beside me at the wheel
I stole a kiss at the turn of a mile
My curiosity running wild
Crusin' and playin' the radio
Riding along in my automobile
I's anxious to tell her the way I feel
So I told her softly and sincere
And she leaned and whispered in my ear
Cuddlin' more and drivin' slow
With no particular place to go
No particular place to go
The night was young and the moon was gold
So we both decided to take a stroll
Can you image the way I felt
I couldn't unfasten her safety belt
Riding along in my calaboose
Still trying to get her belt a-loose
All the way home I held a grudge
For the safety belt that wouldn't budge
Crusin' and playing the radio
With no particular place to go

Chuck Berry Forever.
Speed kills, George.
Han Solo, anybody?
Listen at .75x speed
LOL! Well, that's a little too much the other way. .85x would be about right!
Rythm and Blues meets punk, nice one
Ease up peeps we know Chuck lit the torch, George is just carrying it along to the next dude
L.G. has a daughter who plays a mean guitar also!😎
He covered Berry's songs because he likes good music to rock with.
Chuck Berry did it originally but I still thought it was pretty cool how George did it.
He sped it up a bunch
Yeah George has a habit of doing that. Works though.
I hear this and I feel like I'm back in high school in the Fifties!
Pure Passion and Excellence! George Thorogood....great "Boogie"...."Blues"...."Rock".
+Riki B. Eyestarone When you say I'm not a musicologist .....depends on what branch of music you mean. I studied classical and Beethoven and wrote essays re last 2 years high school. So I did year 11 and 12 in music. Technically speaking you are correct about the roots of music. But George Thorogood played music around a lot in the 70s and 80s in the Rock era. However, his blues is adopted from the Chuck Berry era. Like the Stones, too. I call them Blues-Rock artists, as they have a very strong Blues, R & R and 50/60s influence. I did not see George around in the 50s performing like the great daddy's of Blues R&R. guess I call him Blues and Boogie Rock.
Whew... well basically you have to separate the artist from the material... in my comment I was addressing the song and its background (Swing/Rockabilly) and not George T. since this is really a "version" of the song and not an original song. So George T. might be thought of as a post Rock & Roll artist since as you said he is a child of the 70's which is thought of as the "Rock" era not the 'Rock & Roll' era and he is not a child of the 30s-40's which produced the song by Chuck B. in the 50's (actually 1957 I think). George is definitely not a (purely) Blues artist but has come to emulate the "Boogie Blues" sound which is again more of a Big band "Swing" and even Country (Hank Williams) influenced sound than is Rock & Roll. But Blues is yet an entirely different subset and influential form. The key is to look at the overlap of the eras and the side influences. Elvis is a very clear example to understand these concepts wherein Big Band/Swing, Rockabilly and Country met Gospel and why Elvis is an innovator of some import. Me I'm just a humble Music Video Director...
@Riki B. Eyestarone Thanks for info and bringing this to light. Most likely I meant Pure Excellence!..which I wrote on another video. bearing in mind I often get on the net at 4 am when unable to sleep. I will rectify my wording.
"Boogie" ..."Blues" ..was what I was after !!!
+Riki B. Eyestarone Not disagreeing with your post EXCEPT George is a child of the seventies. He starting performing around 1977 and was already an adult by then. Not trying to sound anal retentive but he was born in the fifties and therefore a child of the sixties... just saying....
+SeaBassVamp watch the original
If he had the scar on his hand he would so remind me of Drew Dryer....:) Gotcha Soldier Boy

I always liked this song. Chuck's version and George's version. Nothing wrong with doing a cover...if anything, it's paying tribute to Chuck.

My favourite artist of all times
This was playing in an arcade, I recorded a chunk of the song so I could find out who did the cover and buy it. I should have known, no surprise why I liked it so much now that I found it. Thanks for the upload!
That's one hell of a tune. i loved it. I love the way they enhenced the song, a lot more heavier, with extended solos, without losing the rock'n'roll side.
