George Thorogood And The Destroyers - Long Gone Lyrics
One of these days, you know it won't be long,
you'll look for me and baby I'll be long gone
I'll be down the road
You'll look for me,
but me you won't see
Yeah, one of these days, you know the time is near,
you'll look for me, but baby I won't be here
I'm gonna be long gone
You'll look for me,
but me you won't see
Yeah, one of these days, you're gonna wake up and find,
this lonesome boy has changed his cotton-picking mind
He's gonna be long gone
You'll look for he,
Long gone!
Long gone!
Long gone!
Long gone!
You'll look for me, and me you won't see

George Thorogood And The Destroyers Long Gone Comments
I love my all George Thorogood playlist!! It tunes everything else all out!!
About time George came back to England.
Bendigedig! Mwy a mwy!!!
woooo go cat go
This is ROCK!!
GREAT song and performance!
I like his style
Me & my band play/cover this song at our shows only after I left some selfish agenda driven, 1 sided cunt that I'm done with & left her ass.. She gets blurry & smaller in my rear view mirror as I drove off in my 1951 Mercury, & I take a sip of my 100 proof drink... Ya, we've done this song live, more than 35 times....... wink
Still Kickin Ass I see!!! Never dissapoints!!
How come George got like few thousand views on his videos. This guy is absolutely crushing it.
11 idiots don't know good R & R when they hear it!!!!
prebooomer Yeah if the idiots don't like it why can't they stay away?
JHJ, The assholes probably are not smart enough to know good music, when it KICKS their ass. 22 now.
Make it 25
Jeez! now its 26!!@Rob N.
@prebooomer Sad as hell
"Get behind him Walter...behind him and in front of me...it's a TV show, so when I shoot the driver in the face, he'll harmlessly swerve off the road into a bush or something..."
Saw George in '92 at Jones Beach...Opened with this and you know it was going to be a kick ass evening!!
Saw him in Hood, at the Delta Blues Bar, and they closed with this song, tore the roof offa the damn place!!!!
George did a lot of 80 miles per hour Rock & Roll, but this is one of his best!!!
prebooomer-
oh yeah, my dad and I still listen to this. We listened to it in the car back in 2006 for the first time, still one of my favorite rock songs of all time.
yeah George is the only artist to play this like it was meant to be -played, loud and fast!!!
reminds me of a 69 4 door Catalina, beautiful girl with long black hair and a boy who had no clue what to do in the king size back seat.
62 Chevy 409 SS Impala, and I knew what to do in the back seat!! So does my beautiful Red Headed, Now, Wife, who has more curves than a mountain rd in the State of Nevada!! I used to cruize Austin, Fallon, Nevada back in the day, and then we would go park and give that back seat a workout, don't have the car, but still have the Gal!!
R&B don't get better than this...thanx George
long gone . . . long strong!!!
Crime Story t.v. series from the 80's in the pilot episode during the freeway chase scene. I bought the entire series on d.v.d. Great music, good actors and beautiful cars.
@wrotenwasp Do you remember the "wig-wag" headlights like police use today? A friend of my son's bought a Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor at a municipal auction and the mechanics had forgotten to take that deal off Javar's ride and one day he was just rolling down a 4-lane highway and people were pulling off every which way! He stopped at a gas station and saw the headlights flashing on the car ahead of him in the pumps. He didn't know the flasher was still on the car and finally saw how to turn it off. He said in that part of town he's lucky some hoodlum didn't try to shoot him!
+D Tittle1964 that scene was kick ass along with the series.
Oh yeah,I can recall those. A friend of mine back in the 80s did that same shit. Bought an old Chrysler something that was an ex cop car,had the red lights in the back windown and he had that cop haircut. I remember riding down I-275 and all the traffic would stay right at 70 wherever he was at! He was kind of a nerdy, dorky kid too but got his kicks off of messin with people like that.
take five
That's what got me here... they could play this song on the radio instead of "Bad to the Bone" for a change...
Great track from their "Maverick" album
I don't always listen to this song, but when I do everyone else does, too. \m/
Damn 'em if they can't take a joke!
I was sitting in the driveway of my house once with this song FULL BLAST...and even with my car windows rolled up my neighbor came out and asked me what my deal was. Well, he was right. I told him, "you're right, sorry."
But it was LONG GONE!!
That should be a good enough answer, ha ha!
You should have told him to go to hell
Dam straight.
I can't get my stereo LOUD enough!!!
Toby Keith I love this bar
when I play my Sony sound system at 9 or above things start breakin and movin around!!
The Best there is. No comments further...
Nuutttin' but my DUST TRAILssssssss...........yeeeHaaaaw...XD
@bonacman I saw them in '92. yep, they opened with this then too. I think they opened with this kick ass song to knock you on your ass and as you said, to let you know you were IN FOR A SHOW!!
ThorogoodFan1 I saw them in1985 in Richmond, VA. They closed with this.
@empie45 Empie, in'89-'90 when they did this live, believe me...I WOULD LOSE IT!!!
I was that guy screaming and losing my mind while other blokes who are there only to hear bad to the Bone would be looking at me like I should be locked up!
@jonbadart You gotta listen to georges version of Johnny B Goode on you tube it is the best!!!!
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3
Great stuff!!!!
wish I had seen them in concert ! I can't
sit still when I hear this -LOVE it !
This song KICKS YOUR ASS in concert!!!!
I remember in 1989-90 this song knocked you on your ass when they would belt it out.
Man this is the best rock song ever done by George Thorogood. Its the very meaning of Rockin good time.
his St Louis concert version of Jonny B Goode rocks as good as this, isn't better , but just as good. In fact I cant think of a song by George that isn't good!!
What a tune! Just great Rock!
This is on my "funeral cd".. right behind Amazing Grace, and Scattered...by the Kinks.
This outta just wipe the frowns off'n their faces eh?
I remember seeing George and the Destroyers in Kansas City in 1990 opening for Allman Bros. They opened with this song. Classic rock n roll!
Johnny B. Goode could play a guitar like he was ringing a bell . . . . . . . . George can play it like a god damn fire alarm
Rock on bro!
or like a bat outta hell!!
