I still remember the first time when I heard this song. so shocked not only it was top-notch but also too funky single album featured it on B-side(bonus track). only a few GM fans know the presence of this fantastic song. Crazyman Dance deserves so much more than that.

If this was in listen without prejudice it would be number 1. The instruments are perfection. Moody dance song with cool style.

This would have gone to #1 if it was released as a single in 1990. I think this was scheduled for Listen Without Prejudice Vol 2 but it was scrapped due to his case with Sony.

in my opinion nobody in the pop world has ever come close to matching Georges levels of vocal pitch deapth or spectrum.. over a month now and it's still hard to believe he's gone forever.. a piece of my soul left me after George micheal died.. RIP mate

The three songs on Red Hot + Dance plus this were originally intended for Listen Without Prejudice Vol.2 a more dance orientated follow up to LWP Vol.1. But due to the legal troubles with sony to come, he shelved the album and the four songs are all we have.

Indeed a beatiful song. Its a masterpiece. I remember listening to it back in 92 in a Juke box. It is superb. It would have been a number one hit in several world charts! Gifted, talented man.

The follow-up album Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 2 was scrapped for reasons known only to Michael and his record company. Three of the tracks intended for that album appear on the AIDS benefit album Red Hot + Dance, while a fourth ("Crazyman Dance") turned up on the B-side of that album's first single, "Too Funky".
The album was slated to be reissued across a number of formats, including a 3CD+DVD super deluxe edition box set, in November 2016[3] but posponed until March 2017

The timing would have been important, released RIGHT after the Faith album. After Listen Without Prejudice it would have not been a big hit!

The gods were generous with GM, but the gifts came with a self-destructive clause (maybe written in small letters, like in the contracts), since he finally led a life that was pretty sad and died young and wasted, even though he had tons of talent, wits and good looks that should have promised a happy, long career.

@Diana Ionescu, sad but so true. Happens to so many in the music industry. I guess what they say about the brightest lights burning out quickly is true. George's death effected me like no other. Hey touched my soul on so many levels.

This song was recorded around the faith tour, as you notice a sample of this played on his 89 coke commercial.

Holly Powe I know the interview you are talking about and yes, the interviewer - was it possibly John Norris or maybe Kurt Loder - was VERY keen on this one.  I think they're in what looks like a house, George I think is in brown and wearing of course his darkest dark sunglasses..... I can see that it wouldn't have fit where he was going with Faith but definitely any album after that it would've been a hit!!

Steve Tici thank you.  I had totally missed it being on the commercial but yes this IS where that tune is from....  Interesting bit I heard about that commercial was someone explained that George had all these stipulations for that like he wouldn't be filmed drinking a Diet Coke (even though he drank them all the time), that he didn't want to be singing, wouldn't allow use of a song (which I took to mean one of his hits) and a couple other things I can't remember but all showed he definitely took control of everything he did.  He was SUCH an inigma or as Andrew put it at the BRIT's, ' a supernova!'  I still have my moments of tears and sometimes sobs over the huge loss of the man and the talent.....but sweet angel George, you can rest now......

Holly Powe sorry I got your hopes up. I found the interview I was thinking it was but I was wrong about the Crazyman comment being a part of it....  I've watched practically everything out there since December and I guess some have run together.  There IS one I'm trying to re-find - and hopefully I'm remembering IT right.....  He is being interviewed outside.  I was thinking it was outside the house when working on Trojan Souls, but not positive.

Holly Powe I heard what you heard, it's definetly an audio interview exactly with what you described. the interviewer kept raving about this song.. the dark room with sunglasses interview is when he talks about one of his proudest moments as singing for the Queen tribute. Ironically, he also spoke of the loss of Queen front man Freddie Mercury as losing a piece of his childhood.. exactly how many feel today about his not being here 😢..
