Genesis - Uncertain Weather Lyrics
A day of uncertain weather
Captured in a frame forever
A face in a faded photograph
He must have had a life
People who meant everything to him
A sinner, a saint, a soldier
Caught up in a war he never
Had a chance to start or build a life
All gone long ago
Leaving no trace
Disappearing like smoke in the wind
To become just a face without a name
Disappearing like smoke in the wind
Hopes and fears important plans
Forgotten memories
Footsteps fading in the sand, ooh
Schemes and dreams small and grand
Nothing left to see
Footsteps fading in the sand, ooh
Someone who cast a shadow
Maybe just a lazy man
Doesn't make much difference now it's true
A day of uncertain weather
Captured in a frame forever
A face in a faded photograph
All gone long ago
Leaving no trace
Disappearing like smoke in the wind
To become just a face without a name
One more to add to the total
Of those never heard of again
Yes he's gone
Just a face without a name
Leaving no trace
Disappearing like smoke in the wind
All gone
Just a face without a name
Leaving no trace
Disappearing like smoke in the wind...

Genesis Uncertain Weather Comments
2:26 - 2:49 sounds like a recycled Taken In by Mike & The Mechanics. Sneaky
Tomek Beksiński w jednej ze swoich autorskich audycji powiedział że warto mieć ten album choćby tylko dla tego jednego utworu.

Pezzo fantastico benchè sottovalutato come, peraltro, tutto l'album. Ho letto recensioni impietose sull'intero album. Mi domando se, ai giorni nostri, abituati a tutta la merda che circola, siamo ancora in grado di riconoscere la "qualità" quando la incontriamo. Tutto qui.
If Collins had sung this one instead of Ray Wilson it would have been a hit. In fact, I think you can apply this to the whole album.
Melodically brilliant....Tony, go on......
Muito sommm
May be the best song of Genesis (Tony banks). Great music and great lyrics.
Genesis, reduced to writing songs where one waits for the hook ("all gone" etc). a good hook, good chord progression on the chorus, and yet..
I remember the talk in the forums at the time. "no Phil Collins to drag them to ballad land!" "they say the songs will be long, dark".
As if length was the issue. or darkness. I'm not talking getting another "TOTT", (what's dark there?). I'd settle even for something comparable to the power and muilti-idea of "Domino".
(just my 2c)
1 person's ability to enjoy quality songs has gone long ago disappearing like smoke in the wind.
Great album, listen my home studio https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlQ0IYde_14&t=108s
Brilliant song from an underrated album. Genesis reminded all the old fans of their early years with Peter Gabriel. This song nearly made me cry.
Brillant and pure Genesis song.
Underrated album, the last Genesis album now in 2017 celebrating 20 years of its releasing. This song is one of my very fave from "Calling all stations". A fantastic piece of art.
That is my pain... al l ready 20 years, because, when I hold in my hands Calllin all Stations I understood, that at last! They founded nod just force to go out of influence of good drummer but chip musician and show man, but also to find I will say brilliant replacement to Peter and a very good drummers (not P.C. class, off cource) But most important think, that Guys came back to the same ideas of music which their talent's belongs to! But!
imo this album had the potential to reach the wind and wuthering chilling instrumentals! :DDD
Ray Wilson actually bears a resemblance to Steven Wilson in this image. And the music isn't hugely dissimilar, particularly the "footsteps fading in the sand" section. Great, underrated song!
