Gaye, Marvin - Ain't That Peculiar Lyrics

Honey you do me wrong but still i'm crazy about you
Stay away too long and i can't do without you
Every chance you get you seem to hurt me more and more
But each hurt makes my love stronger than before
I know flowers go through rain
But how can love go through pain

Ain't that peculiar
A peculiar ality
Ain't that peculiar baby
Peculiar as can be

You tell me lies that should be obvious to me
I've been so much in love with you baby til i don't wanna see
That things you do and say are designed to make me blue
It's a dog gone shame my love for you makes all
Your lies seem true
But if the truth makes love last longer
Why do lies make my love stronger

Ain't that peculiar
A peculiar ality
Ain't that peculiar baby
Peculiar as can be

I cried so much just like a child thats lost its toy
Maybe baby you think these tears i cry are tears of joy
A child can cry so much until you do everything they say
But unlike a child my tears don't help me to get my way
I know love can last through years
But how can love last through tears

[Chorus]

The song “Happy” does sound similar, that legal battle is not my fight. It seems only white wives and white girlfriends benefit the most from the legacies of black men . Next.

    I FINALLY FOUND IT!
I'm thirty five years old. This is one of those songs that I've always heard in my mind, but I couldn't tell what the words were. I only found it tonight because a friend was watching the Dark Phoenix movie and this happened to be played in it. Before tonight, I can remember myself putting gas in my Honda Pilot at Pearlman's on Route 28 in Pine Hill, New York back in 2009. Back then I struggled to make out the words so I could find the song. It would be another ten years until God or fate finally decided this song would cross my path again. Finally! Another mystery solved.

  50. C.... S....

Such happy good times, and good life music 😀😘

    C.... S....

Over heard this song in the x men movie i had to download it lol cause i almost forgot about this jam by marvin

  51. P.... A....

Shame about his Dad a Transvestite Preacher that shot him.

  52. P.... B....

I love how Marvin began the vocal quietly, almost wistfully-- and why not, since it is a sad song?-- but then the great powerful voice comes on more and more as he goes along. Of course that's a regular formula, I understand. But this is Marvin Gaye doing it..

  53. s.... h....

  64. J.... B....

    " The .. ORIGINAL .. KING OF SWING ! .. "
May he ( Marvin Gaye , Jr . ) rest in eternal peace ...

  65. P.... T....

Motown had the damndest and the most paradoxical way of pairing 😔 sad and melancholic lyrics with uplifting and high-spirited music, a good example of this is the Temptations song Since I Lost My Baby, (my all-time favorite Temptations song) a perfect example of a seemingly ill-pairing of downhearted lyrics and yet (at least to me) up-spirited music 🎶 and always pulled it off masterfully and effectively.

  66. D.... M....

So much talent. Miss you so much Marvin. Your music will remain forever!

    best soul record ever

  68. R.... I....

Just a 11 year old kid when this hit the airwaves and how I long for those days of what music brought us for joy with such trauma going on in those years the arts of the sixties made a bit more tolerable for all we were going thru yet somehow then the heart was much more pure and real than it is now.
