Gaslight Anthem, The - Mulholland Drive Lyrics
Did you sleep last night and do you remember dreams?
Do I ever cross your mind and do you ever think of me?
When you think about your life are there things you would reverse?
I still remember holding you, just out of sight of her
In the deep, dark parking lot pressed up against my car
And the summer night was giving in to the lure of Autumn’s sway
I can’t seem to forget that night or how I heard you say
That I’d just die if you ever took your love away
Oh and I'd just die if you ever took your love away
Would you miss me if I was gone and all the simple things were lost?
Would you ever wait on me to say
Oh that I’d just die if you ever took your love away
And I can still recall the hour when you first let down your walls
But it scared you love, to need someone, so you killed it all instead
But in the mist up on Mulholland, I could've sworn I heard you say
That I’d just die if you ever took your love away
Oh and I would just die if you ever took your love away
Did you miss me when I was gone and the simple things we lost?
I was aching to hear you say
Oh that I’d just die if you ever took your love away
That I’d just die if you ever took your love away
Yes and I would just die if you ever took your love away
Did you miss me when I was gone and the simple things we lost?
I was aching to hear you say
Oh that I’d just die if you ever took your love away
And did you miss me when I'm gone?
And the simple things we used to rely on?
Who came to wipe your tears away?
Who came to bring back your dignity baby?
And who came to drive you around this town
Like I used to drive you all around with the radio on
Through the mist on Mulholland

Gaslight Anthem, The Mulholland Drive Comments
The only bad thing is he’s not jay-z. (Sarcasm)
This song is spicy
does she know it's about her (oakman GA)
love this song... dont loose the dream boys. keep making music
I love this song, but isn't the line, "Do I ever cross your mind and do you ever think of me" a bit redundant? Both statements are basically saying the exact same thing! ;)
i think thats point of it like the desperation of wanting to be loved like he loves her. at least thats my interpretation
haha oh well that's a good point. but I would say "cross your mind" is not something deep or complex, that she would just remember him for a second or two. and "think of me" would be deep, like she would spend some time thinking about it? idk. anyways it is a really god point lol.
The terms "cross your mind" and "think of me" are not equivalent.
If someone crosses your mind it means you've recalled their name or memory for some reason, while thinking of someone implies a deeper and more profound level - with actual thought involved, if you please.
What why is the drummer shit in this song? :o
@Olivere118 what do you mean? Benny's drumming is solid here, just like everywhere else...
+GreenIce101 right
+Olivere118 I struggled to come to terms with his drumming. When he plays he's got a weak wrist and very much looks like an amateur at times but his style very much fits in with the band and once you can hear it, you'll be happy you did.
I love this song so much
Is there any reason why the lyrics "the radio on" are included in so many Gaslight Anthem songs? Others include Mae, The Queen of Lower Chelsea, Angry Johnny and the Radio, and probably more. Has anyone else picked up on this / know why? Great band but I'm just curious.
from speculation, based on my own personal experiences, it would have something to do with the radio on providing a musical security blanket during the mundane events through the down right bad times. More a guess than anything else, I will not pretend to be able to understand how Brian Fallon does his thing, I'm just grateful he does
i believe it started around "the 59' sound" (there second album). there's also the fact that in an interview they asked them were they got the inspiration, and there main point of focus i believe was Bruce Springsteen and if you listen to Springsteen's music you kind of forget your troubles, even just for a moment. and that's what people needed on the radio, and it seems that its just a nod to those that made them want to help people forget there problems for a while too. that's just my two cents
+krig20 Oh wow, well said! Your two cents seem to be the most logical two cents!
fukkin terrible SHIT
why watch it then
@Bjork Vlogdok You have to watch something first to know if it's terrible. I disagree with the comment btw, but still that was a kind of stupid reply.
yeah I suppose it is. I see your logic.
+peace deathupon So bad you needed to reply?? Small man with small mentality and in all probability a small penis but stay strong bud, life is for living, dont let the negativity you feel drag you down, tomorrows another day and if youre lucky itll be a day when Taylor Swift releases a new song and you can comment happy positive stuff instead, until then its best you stick to her tunes and let the adults enjoytheir music :)
The only bad thing about this song is the usage of 'Comic Sans' for the lyrics!
anyone got the version of this where he goes on about missing his mother and friends?
That's in Biloxi Parish demo I think.
What's wrong with Comic Sans? I think it looks great.
The type of letters...like arial or times new roman
Can someone tell me what Comic Sans is
i keep thinking of late 90s early 00s hs girls' geocities pages
Is this a girl band? because ive been loving them for about a year.. oh well
Also, stop hating on Comic Sans and check your own handwriting... how about that? :P
i want my life to be this song
Kate Champagne hey Kate did you ever find that passion?
What's the big deal with Comic Sans? Sure, its ugly but it's better than fucking calibri!
Comic Sans. The Nickleback of fonts.
the lead guitar at the end is magnificent.
I probably should stop typing in everyone's status on to Google. Keep finding such good songs that make me like crap.
never use ComicSans
You should feel proud. I never, ever, click on that little thumbs-up button. But seeing this was too perfect. You have gained my approval.
is this on the movie ? where?
By far the best song in the album
i think thees guys rock
what a pretty song
Rise Against? they did just go on tour with the gaslight anthem
i love ur name!
* mist upon
you got trolled hard dude. take a chill pill cut i would just die if you ever took your love away
it's spelled "shut up," idiot! Which is exactly what you should do, you mindless, brainwashed, media-poisoned drone! Actually, I think the phrase you're looking for is "F*** off!," which is something else I propose you do! twit!
shuddup
many just saw gaslight with hot water music they are also really good
I'm dead serious: are there any more bands like this? Bands that still write real songs that really mean something and that you can't wait to hear again and can't stop thinking about? Bands that can really play and still do legit solos and with singers that sound as good live as in the studio? I'm so sick of this so-called "modern" music!
Frank Turner, Flogging Molly, The Menzingers, DropKick Murphys and the list goes on and on, you probably cant hear hardly any of them on the radio though
For me this band is the best band since The Alarm
Really? That is my favorite font. It is so legible and clear. To each their own
wait...u guys aren't really complaining about the font are you?....cmon ppl
not really dude...i mean dont get wrong i absolutely love TGA but i dont listen to them cuz theyre some kinda superb musicians...cuz theyre not really...theyre just superb at song making and making beautiful music
the person who disliked this is really frickin' stupid..
Why make such a big deal about Comic Sans on a YouTube video? Just enjoy the song.
one of my favourites songs off this amazing album!! guys this is the band I was looking for...up TGA!
Hey everyone, shut up, it could be in Webdings.
I actually like comic sans...
3:21 Proof that Alex Rosamilia is some kind of maniacal shaman when it comes to guitar.
IKR? Comic Sans killed my parents.
Four... Who taught you to count?
Comic Sans...really?!
Gaslight Anthem gives me hope that good music didn't disappear forever in '97
I love this song...but I hate Comic Sans...
awesome breakdown i really liked it when guns n roses did it in don't cry
we dont drive nowhere, without the radio on!!!!
This is by far the best song on the album and would easily be on any of the previous 3 albums but still has a new vibe about it.
Good job, you need to change Midst to MIST though. :) and you mixed up Sworn and spelt is sowrn.
Awesome job with the lyrics, thank you so much for posting!
What a great band. I am getting more and more into them, within each song of theirs I listen...
