man, this band was really good back in the day... miss their old stuff... gaslight anthem and the 59 sound by far their best album...

This band played in my friends garage (ludlow, mass) to about 15 people with the riot before and make do and mend, right when this album came out. Boy did they blow up quick.

Brian Fallon, the lead singer, wrote this song as a dedication to Joe Strummer, frontman of legendary punk band the Clash, who went by the name Woody while he was still a hippie folk singer, before he went punk. He died a peaceful death years later of an undiagnosed heart problem in his sleep.

I've heard this song all of my life. Me and my older brother used to spend our summers together alone because my parents were always working. He listened to punk all the time and got me into it at a very early age. I loved this song when I was little and I have heard it almost everywhere I've been since. It's really cool to be able to hear this song again and kinda remind me of what punk is about and how I got into it. Which is basically the same way described in this song. I still enjoy punk to this day for more reasons than I can count, one of those reasons being this song.

Until I saw a lyrics video for this, I thought this was a song about a mad scientist turning people into sound. I was a little babby when I first heard it.
