This is the first Gaslight song I ever heard, probably right around 2008. I was going through a tough time back then, after learning about the death of an old friend. 10 years later - more friends lost, along with my mom to breast cancer, and the love of my life walked out of my life, this song is as important now. Thanks Gaslight for an amazing song, and a soundtrack for the pain.

I remember listening to this song in high school. Great band, one of the few still out there.

I was listening to Brian in an interview for the iTunes session and he said the one thing they all keep with them is the faith to the early fans of the band, and before they release ANYTHING they make sure they're not screwing over the early fans, and that they remain true to their roots. So I don't think you'll have that problem, they're all ridiculously awesome people.

Hey, I know it's been months, but I don't think we ever buried the hatchet. I'm only bringing this back up again because, while scrolling through the comments, I realised we took up an entire page of comments, and that irritated me and I'm sure it irritated everyone else trying to enjoy the music. So, here to apologize. Give you something though, you know how to stir up a good argument! :P

No offence intended to you or anybody else, but it sounds like to me that you think far too highly of yourself and how much of a fan you are. Who said even YOU know what message Brian was trying to get across when he wrote his songs? I consider myself a huge fan, but I don't pretend I know what the songs mean unless I know for sure that I do...

Maybe i'm being a bit of an uptight asshole, but Brian Fallon and all of The Gaslight Anthem are my idol(s) and I just don't want the integrity and honesty of the music and the members to be spoiled by success.

I'm not trying to keep anyone from the music, i'm just saying how it kind of sucks when bands you've loved for so long get huge. I love these guys, and I wish them nothing but the greatest success, as they deserve it more than anyone. But i'm sure I, as much as anyone else, don't want Gaslight to spill over into the Much Music / MTV crowd.

Anyone who's just a tagalong fan wouldn't even give this song the time of day because it never charted, so just because it means something to you doesn't mean it doesn't mean anything to anyone else. I adore this song.

As much as I want Brian and the band to have fame, and success, it disturbs me to seen 799,992 views on this. When bands get famous and big, it kind of takes away from the intimacy of the music. These guys will always be number one to me, forever and always, and it just kills me to have people saying their the biggest fan, when they don't know the meaning of what The Gaslight Anthem is about, or least of all, even the lyrics.

@BENDO789 Dont get me wrong. They got a lot of great tracks with a original sound. But come on Im board hearing the same riffing with a different melody on lots of their tracks. Its a catchy riff. But when do you draw the line of "original" when ive already heard the band use that riff in 12+ of their songs or should I say half of the 59 sound. I have 6 strings and 22 frets, Theirs a time to be creative instead of lets use this because its easy and catchy. It becomes stail to my ears. Sorry :(

@superchampable I'm not going to have a go at you just because you dissed my favourite band, but your reason is rubbish. Compare this with Say I Won't, then listen to Here's looking at you, kid then Boxer, then Film Noir, then I Coulda Been a Contender, then The Queen of Lower Chelsea. After you've done that you will understand that they have loads of variety. All bands have their own sound and TGA definitely have a style that they like to work in but they still have loads of original tracks.

When are they back from their European tour? Must get them to come to Toronto...

Amazing, when i heard this record it hit me so hard. It was like "this is as close to perfection that a band can be playing this style of music"

4 years on, and they're better than ever with 3 outstanding albums and the 'Senor' EP under their belts. If they've written a bad song, i ain't heard it.

They will stay in my life forever, which i can't say about that many musical outifts. Beautiful.
