had the album back in the 80s it was futuristic back then still sounds cool to me lol

this album with all the synthesizer's was in 79"? Thomas Dolby"s album golden age of wireless 83" another synthesized work of art.

Gary was and is so far ahead of his time. A true pioneer in music in spite of the critics!

This sounds like gary numan grab a today american crap song and make it into this, having style and amazing sound....

When I was in college in the early 80s, I was delighted to find Gary Numan graffiti in the ground floor women's bathroom of the biology building. It was the line, "The wreckage of a hero lies broken in a corner, and everyone pretends they like to live that way." I was the only technopunk in the department--this was the midwest--so I think it was done by a visiting Grrrl...and all these decades later, I still thank her for that awesome bit of solidarity!

Thing is, I don't think we thought such things were just around the corner, especially here in Britain, a rich country whose population never feel well off. Hardly anyone had VCRs, I'm not even sure we'd got a colour TV then, and the idea of a home computer was unimaginable (didn't even consider the notion until the ZX81 arrived 2 years later, and nobody today can imagine how it felt to touch one the first time).

"The future" I think was something we didn't really expect to happen. Of course that's just my perception of my own feelings, a very long time ago.

I was 17-18 in '79. I used to get high on pot, put this album on the turntable, turn off all the lights and lie down and enter into a new, futuristic reality....can still feel that eerie feeling, though these days it's somewhat distant. Wish there was a way to turn back the clock for a day or two!

I've been a fan since the very first time I heard "Cars" (I was aged 10). I'm 50 now, and still as much a fan as I was all those years ago. (My brother calls me "Ann-Droid")

In fact, the first Gary Numan might even have ended up in there. I hope he's found enough synthesizer parts to keep him happy. If we listen carefully, we might even be able to pick his music up in our dental fillings.
