Gabriel, Peter - Walk Through The Fire Lyrics

Walk through the fire
Walk through the fire (walk through the fire)
Through the dust and ashes
While the building crashes
Walk through the flame (walk through the fire)
No trace of indecision
Lion keep his vision clear

Moving out
Across the water
The wet leaves quiver in the heat
Darkness heavy on my shoulder
Smell the smoke, sickly sweet
The body's weak, the shadow's strong

Walk through the fire (walk through the fire)
Through the dust and ashes
While the building crashes
Walk through the flame (walk through the fire)
Lion show no sign of fear

Walk through the fire (walk through the fire)
Through the dust and ashes
While the building crashes
Walk through the flame (walk through the fire)
No time for doubt or caution
Taken by the strong emotion
Walk through the fire (walk through the fire)
No trace of indecision
Lion hold his vision clear

(Walk, walk, walk)

Walk through the fire (walk through the fire)
Walking in the path of angel
Walk on down below, walk on down below
Walk on down below, walk on down below

Gabriel, Peter Walk Through The Fire Comments
  1. d.... b....

    Against all odds

  2. P.... F....

    Terry Brogan vs JAke wise.

  3. V.... P....

I was in a hospital bed, recovering from a horrific, disfiguring accident. This song strengthened my resolve.

  4. f.... 5....

GREAT SONG AS ALWAYS ONE OF THE MOST EPIC MAN IN MUSIC HISTORY

  5. R.... ....

The better version. (Looking at you Rated PG).

  6. s.... ....

    Darkness heavy on my shoulder☻

  7. B.... G....

SO true of today...with churches in flames...this is one of Peter Gabriel's triumphs

  8. L.... E....

One of his most underrated songs. Used to call Wlir 92.7f.m at lunchtime requests and they played it every time!

  9. D.... F....

B-side to the 12inch of Red Rain (I think)

  10. F.... ....

Very hard to find a copy of this anywhere

  11. H.... S....

    Nile Rodgers brought me here.

  12. r.... ....

Damn this song is sexy...I feel goosebumps before he starts singing. Very sexual but in a discreet way...not sappy.

  13. J.... K....

WOW! I have owned this singe record since 1984. On the A side, there is that GREAT song… I have loved this one 34 years.. Just now, we are living in year 2018.... Eh ;)
And on the B side, there is not… surprise surprise NOT Peter Gabriel song… There is a Larry Carlton instrumental song called "The Race". You can found these songs on LP "Against all odds (1984) There are also some intersesting songs, f.e performed by Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford...

  14. n.... ....

This should have been a big hit, but the production just isn't good enough in my opinion and is where the song failed.

  15. A.... J....

Time to get the spirit that this song represents back, burn off the dross and get to what matters in life!

  16. D.... L....

Both versions rock!! Playing both over n over!!! Love this S----t! Walk through the fire, thru the dust n ashes while the building crashes!!!! Yaaaassss!!!

  17. a.... ....

This is a different cut than the one on the Against All Odds soundtrack. Where's it from?

    a.... ....

This version was out as a single in the UK in May/June 1984. Fell short of the Top 40 unfortunately.

  18. g.... ....

Monster Gabriel song. Makes you drive as fast as possible.

  19. S.... P....

    Happy Birthday, Peter! :)

  20. G.... S....

    wlir fans love this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. L.... E....

Always a favorite.used to always request it on wdre at lunchtime requests.

  22. g.... t....

Muy bueno, glorioso, hacia 30 años que no lo escuchaba. De los mejores temas de PG,

  23. C.... H....

and this song is good but never released in the U.S. and that sucks

    C.... H....

Many things they do in the US sucks. Oh don't have newest consumer technology in the US like in Japan, because they don't need it. Stupid manufacturers. :(

  24. C.... H....

when hear this song I think of 9/11

  25. L.... D....

I'm Scottish and had a friend from France, Alain who came to stay with my family in the late 80s for about a year. He left a few mix tapes with all sorts of great music on it. I never found out what happened to him. This was one of the songs and I can't describe how evocative this is to me, just breathtaking.

    L.... D....

The nextdoor neighbors had two girls do the same, one from Brazil and one from Belgium. I used to watch them go topless when I was 13 and play marco polo with them. Le meow.

  26. C.... J....

psh this isn't that impressive. I could write music as good as PG. All you need is a brilliant theme told subtly through poetic lyrics, nuclear baselines, soaring vocals and an impeccable understanding of how to showcase vocal and instrumental talent from just about every part of the world. Piece of cake.

    C.... J....

Colin Jacobs 😂 ya got me.

  27. R.... M....

Hey, thanks for the follow up!
I've pinned it on my Cause I'm Coming at you like a Dark Horse board😛...... Definitely want to create some art with it!

Had completely forgotten about seeing this image until I tracked your message...... Both this & the Song are surprisingly timely for me NOW! It was wonderfully powerful to hear the song this morning.......

  28. G.... B....

Do I hear Nile Rogers on Guitar? Great song.

  29. R.... M....

One of those songs that " saved my life" in high school.......Whom ever posted this song, AWESOME photo. Where did you find it????

    R.... M....

The photo is from the nuclear nightmare scene in Terminator 2.

    R.... M....

    I didn't survive high school.

    R.... M....

    meribast same.

  30. D.... S....

One of is best song, never plays it in a show I saw...

    D.... S....

Not counting his latest rated PG compilation it's not on any of his compilation albums either.

  31. m.... s....

Remember hearing this one for the first time and just never understood why it never became a huge hit. Great from start to finish and Gabriel's voice just as good as ever.

    m.... s....

it WAS a huge hit...... (.....for those of us who knew about it)

    m.... s....

@Sparky Bonehead I remember this song getting a lot of airplay at the time. Against All Odds was a big hit as well. A great soundtrack.

    m.... s....

@Fred Garvin I heard it on the radio quite a bit too, usually in the evenings,May/June 1984. Reminded me that they say that if you ever try walking barefoot over hot coals you should chant "cool wet grass" over and over again to help get you through it. Mind over matter,I suppose.

  32. m.... ....

Great song. The movie... not so much.

  33. T.... S....

Terminator reference aside...hearing this song come up at Jake's club was a highlight of the film, Against All Odds. There's also a pretty good song in the film by Ms. Nicks, Violet and Blue, that's worth checking out. By including songs like these, Larry Carlton proved that his ear for genius didn't stop with making Steely Dan the giant it was. Taylor Hackford made a great choice bringing Carlton in on this film.

  34. R.... S....

This song still gets my full attention whenever I play it. It's just one of those early Peter Gabriel trademark sounding songs that has a certain haunting feel to it that never really leaves you and begs for you to hear it again and again. It's like coming home but to something I never knew was there.

    R.... S....

It is by no means an "early" PG song!!!  DJ

  35. E.... R....

Niles Rodgers aka Good Times produced this.....

    E.... R....

every thing Niles touches turns to gold

    E.... R....

And also a tune called "Out, Out" that appears in Gremlins 2.

  36. F.... G....

I was driving to my Wedding on May 12, 1984. I had this song going on full tilt.

    F.... G....

+Fred Garvin Hope it wasn't a bad omen brother.

    F.... G....

@cmtmj2006 It was a good one, still married.

    F.... G....

Interesting, you were married the day the first Terminator arrived..... You were unsure of it all? Peter encouraged you to walk through the flames, by doing so you created a lasting bond.

    F.... G....

    @Ryan P Really? That's very interesting.

    F.... G....

Fred Garvin I get it mate, I get it...

  37. m.... ....

Gives me goosebumps when I listen to it. Yes, I was in my very late teens when this came out.

    m.... ....

Many subwoofers were blown trying to get this to hit just right.

  38. G.... M....

this is the same song as what is on "The Against All Odds" soundtrack.
Its a different mix though. cool to hear it. :)
I like the high end background of the Soundtrack version a little more though. the tinny arpeggios are a little more defined.

  39. M.... ....

I have this song on the Against All Odds- Soundtrack, it is a long version. I hated the eighties but like this song.

  40. R.... J....

    Still eerie.

  41. m.... ....

@Stroboskop Well, the reason you had not heard of it is most likely because it was only generally available on the movie soundtrack for "Against All Odds."

  42. C.... .....

This was also on a "B" side of one of the singles off of "So" - Or, if that isn't correct, it was sold as a separate record/ep during that time period.
I remember it sounding slightly different, though.  The "Walk through the Fire" line sounded scratchier and fuzzier…
    Might be my memory..

  43. n.... c....

I' ve totally forgot it. thanks

  44. m.... h....

I believe this picture is from the movie Terminator.

  45. A.... J....

Sund track of the movie "against all odds"

  46. T.... ....

    That's why it grooves.

  47. t.... ....

Where did this photo come from?

  48. B.... S....

Where on earth have you gotten all this rare stuff from???

  49. j.... ....

Me sad! I lost this '45
    years ago . . .
    DJ

  50. I.... ....

this is the theme for my pyromancer in online and pen and paper rpgs lol

  51. t.... ....

This is actually the single version, which is an entirely different recording than the version on the soundtrack album. Fantastic tune! Thanks for posting -- now I won't wear out my 45!! :))

  52. Y.... E....

wowww mon premier vinyl (b-side \ red rain-a side) j'étais 8 ans .... et jusque maintenant un grand 'fan' de pg! merci pour le video

  53. V.... S....

    thanks peter

  54. j.... ....

@Rita Foster this has been in my head too for many years, since about 1984! This is the first time I have heard it in 29 years and it still sounds great!

  55. L.... W....

    merci mon ami...

  56. V.... W....

    GREAT!!!!!!!

  57. G.... ....

wow, i have never heard that before. And i consider myself a fan.

  58. P.... ....

The summer of '84, and WRXT-FM in Buffalo played this. One of the many songs I taped off the air.

  59. r.... f....

Thanks for posting this song has been in my head for years.
