Gabriel, Peter - San Jacinto Lyrics
Thick cloud - steam rising - hissing stone on sweat lodge fire
Around me - buffalo robe - sage in bundle - rub on skin
Outside - cold air - stand, wait for rising sun
Red paint - eagle feathers - coyote calling - it has begun
Something moving in - I taste it in my mouth and in my heart
Medicine man lead me up through town - Indian ground - so far down
Cut up land - each house - a pool - kids wearing water wings - drink in cool
Follow dry river bed - watch Scout and Guides make pow-wow signs
Past Geronimo's disco - Sit 'n' Bull steakhouse - white men dream
A rattle in the old man's sack - look at mountain top - keep climbing up
Way above us the desert snow - white wind blow
I hold the line - the line of strength that pulls me through the fear
San Jacinto - I hold the line
And the tears roll down my swollen cheek - think I'm losing it - getting weaker
I hold the line - I hold the line
San Jacinto - yellow eagle flies down from the sun - from the sun
We will walk - on the land
We will breathe - of the air
We will drink - from the stream
We will live - hold the line

Gabriel, Peter San Jacinto Comments
The only that is blarringly clear to me, after watching this, is that white people are SO TONE DEAF, they can't even clap in unison...🙈
Modern angel
ingreible estos temas gabiel
Been funny if he started making shadow animals around 6 mins.
After Mozart's Jupiter this is my favorite of all time. Genius.
This song always brings tears to my eyes Gabriel is just brilliant
Beyond, beyond, beyond --- what else to speak?
Phil Collins was better with Genisis, Peter Gabriel was better without them...
Bellissima..c ero a Firenze 1993 ❤️
I get goosebumps every single time that I listen to this... Best show ever, unforgettable! Still dreaming of this concert, years later..
Am sitting in my home studio just about to start some work, and I've just allowed myself to get lost for a moment watching Peter's extraordinary performance... It's his artistic generosity, I think, that makes the greatest impact - alongside his songs, that I've loved since I was a kid. How many times did I fall asleep with Gabriel's 3 or 4 on my Walkman. A mate of mine knows him quite well, and I'm hoping James will pass Peter my remix of Mercy Street, where Ive tried to be unique in my approach! https://soundcloud.com/classicalbanksy/mercy-street-peter-gabriel-remixed-by-classicalbanksy But if someone at Real World spots and listens to this, and decides it DOES merit sending on to the man himself, I'd be eternally grateful!
❤️👌👍🧚🏼♀️
Love Song ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Of all the wonderful creations PG has done, this is the one that first grabbed me. It still does to this moment, makes me cry, laugh, ask forgiveness, and my Heart to dance. Ty. 💛🎶🙏
put in the moon phase before seeing the video .... spooky
Transcendent.
It doesn't get any better than this love you PG
This is not 'music'...nor a 'concert'...it's a deep visceral experience...one that can change the very definition of what we call 'art'.
check out Robert Lepage. a big influence.
Master entertainer!! Light years ahead of any talent!
Amazing
This was better in 1983. I saw it live at SPAC. He literally held the line!
Always amazed, such elaborate staging yet is still able to use some good old fashioned basic lighting and shadows to create an incredibly powerful art.
Perfection
I wish I could have correographed his gestures
This has been one of the most EPIC songs of all time and forever will be. Always gives me strength.
this is a work of art. amazing.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
I loved the CD of this had no idea there was video! He is a great artist. All of his music has mysterious power to place me somewhere I am not.
I'm here because the reference of the new album of keane :3
Most Western artists when they incorporate World Music elements into their catalog they just come off pretentious.
Then there's Peter Gabriel... who for almost 40 years has nailed it.
Bear people will kill you all
It's only pain. So much pain.
never forget this concert,what a Treat !!!
Phenomenal
This man is magical.
Fantastico...Peter Gabriel extraterrestre. ..👽👽👽
Gabriel... every time I hear your voice....I 've got tears of join in my eyes....;-)
Tony llevin bass is so powerful just like Peter's vocals just feels the music
🙏💪
It feels like dying, letting go of life-
Cut up land, each house, a pool-
Poison bite and darkness take my sight-
I hold the line-
The line of strength that pulls me through the fear.
Fuck this is good.
What a great tour!!
God damn hes self absorbed.
I think funny a white man singing about the Indians overkill by the white Europe
This song and video was featured in the Australian film "StarShip" from 1984 directed by Roger Christian. It also featured a soundtrack by Genesis member Tony Banks. Sadly when the Americans bought the rights, they did not want to pay for the royalties so they changed everything with it. Title was changed to "Lorca And The Outlaws".. Soundtrack and sound effects as well as the voice actors were changed as well and it fell into oblivion. Original copies of the UK and AUS versions does still exist and if you have them cherish them.
belter on 8D AUDIO
Damn! Absolutely stunning!
Having seen all of his tours since '78 this was the best. Every show has a mystical quality but the staging was equal to the message.
Hey Park Rangers - You have to hold the line!
Beyond good, farther than awesome, past incredible... we find Peter Gabriel
Batterie de baloche .. Où est Rick Marotta?. Manu Katché a dit de lui qu'il n'est pas un grand batteur, je confirme.
I'm a singer, and frankly a pretty one. But i can't come close to doing this song justice. It's an almost impossible song to get right. I truly believe PG is the only person on earth that can pull this one off. And he does it with perfect ease, power, and emotion. He's truly a vocal genius.
How would be wonderful if he had accept back to Genesis...
Masterpiece ⭐👍♥️
Et c'est ma préférée 😉
That crowd has no sense of timing.
Peter Gabriel - much love to you and to your families ♡
The Best!!!
SongFacts.com:
...They spent most of the night talking, and the man explained the traditional Apache ritual he performed when he 14. Before he could be deemed a Brave, every boy goes with a Medicine Man into the mountains, where a rattlesnake is allowed to bite him. The Medicine Man leaves, and the boy must either find his way down the mountain or die.
This song helped inspire me to explore new textures in sound when I started recording.
Love love this artist, powerful song Peter was deep and way ahead with worldly issues than many others. Respect for him alway. Irish fan Deirdre Monica xxx
MERAVIGLIOSO!!!
My favourite Gabriel Song. Many memories....
If i caught peter gabriel in bed with with my missus i would tuck him in........MUSICAL LEGEND......and how has he not been knighted?????? Ridiculous
I have a feeling that I read that he turned down a knighthood?
In the early to mid 90's I knew Peter Gabriel came out of Genesis, and had a couple fairly big hits throughout the 80's but hadn't really dove too deeply into his archives. In 1993 I dropped out of high school, and had hitch hiked a fair ways across the Eastern half of America, straggled along on a Dead tour for a bit, and in the spring ended back where I was born in Indiana. Having some family, but not being a tamed human being any longer and unable to readjust to living under a roof with rules I retreated back into the woods I spent so much time in as a kid. I had a single person three season tent, and a decent sleeping bag, and rain gear, and figured those woods were good enough for me. Over that spring and early summer I had found a secluded stretch by a offshoot of the river, and over time built a teepee as my home. It didn't have buffalo skins, but I repurposed my grandfather's WWII waterproof canvas tent, and it worked rather well. River stones made up my floor, and fire pit complete with trench for combustion air, and another that could be sealed off when it got too cold for fresh air circulation. Those stones would hold the heat, and I comfortably lived in there for 1 1/2 years before finding a girlfriend who noticed some sort of potential, and I felt was worth giving the world another go for. I ate fish, crawfish, tubbers, wild strawberries, fiddleheads, and just about anything edible growing I could get my hands on, including raiding a few gardens along the way during the summer, and that girlfriend worked at a Subway so I could get a free foot long 4 or 5 days a week and that was pretty good for a day to me in the winters. Occasionally I would ride my bike to a family members after getting a invite to join them for dinner, or I would stop by my grandad's and help out with anything he might need in exchange for his Wonder bread, bologna, and Velveeta sandwiches he held as his main staple in his bachelor years. One day I heard this song, and it struck me like a bolt of lightning. Now whenever I hear it I am transported back into my teepee surrounded by 2' of snow, sweating my ass off on those hot rocks in my underwear trying to cool off before soaking my sleeping bag with sweat. I don't know if it was the hunger, the isolation, the struggle or what but I had a great deal of visions, and moments of intense deep introspection. I look forward to that moment before death when a second seems a year, and I live that life again before I feed the earth. Nobody I know now, other than a few scattered far and wide whom I haven't seen in over 20 years, knows or believes that I lived like that, and they look at me like I'm spinning a yarn when I offer up a lesson learned or a glimpse at a different way. Even my wife doesn't know who I am in my deeper history. At 42 years old I feel like I have lived so much longer than the vast majority of people my age when we are able to get to know each other. That's not even begging to touch on the looks I get when I have to train a new young 18-20 year old and we are together 10-12 hours a day 6 days a week for a couple months. I will never fear the end of this madness, I will take my families hands and teach them the true way.
Suck it, Santa Ana!
Tai Chi
Always loved his pantomime type movement. And that voice! Can't be real!
Got to see him do this in the early eighties. Then I ended up living in San Jacinto. lol.
So good. He was always good. Saw him in a small venue on his first solo tour in '77 and another small venue on the following tour. Class act.
Breath-taking! Brilliant!!!!
This video does nothing to demonstrate just how excellent a Peter Gabriel concert is. Of all the shows I have seen, not one compares to the complete visual/audio spectacle that is a PG show.
in New Jersey when this came out. Thank you for the escape.
I live out here in San Jacinto 😂
ancient Hopi prophecy......When Blue Star appears mankind ends!!
Blue Katchina, ISON, it's here...
It’s my second favorite Hopi prophecy, after the one that Koyaanisqatsi is based on.
Do performances like this exist anymore???
To me, this song is perfect xoxo
Maestro!
You sold your soul by the Babylonian Freemasonery !!
Sorry Peter you cannot hold the light !!
I like the faster tempo of the studio version.
stay Strong Peter ! and tanks for this . amazing performance .
Yes for San Jacinto did those at the mission hold the line.
Mr Gabriel for a Knighthood! His contribution to music is monumental. Thanks for everything so far Mr Gabriel :-)
Goosebumps too. That voice. Not even a straight melody, so complex
He is a heartbreaker. Heart throb! 💕💕💕
💛😍✨✨✨
Had a psychic vision to this and I don't know why.
This is a great one to drop acid to, especially this original LP version which is frankly a quite disturbing experience
Gratitude Peter...YOU are an amazing man.....Thick cloud, steam rising, hissing stone on sweat lodge fire
Around me, buffalo roam, sage in bundle, run on skin
Outside, cold air, stand, wait for rising sun
Red paint, eagle feathers, coyote calling, it has begun
Something moving in, I taste it in my mouth and in my heart
It feels like dying, slow, letting go of life
Medicine man lead me up though town, Indian ground, so far down

I hold the line, I hold the line
San Jacinto, yellow eagle flies down from the sun, from the sun
We will walk, on the land
We will breathe, of the air
We will drink, from the stream
We will live, hold the line
Hold the line
Hold the line
I hear you mate......i idolise him too
all my hair rose up
A true "Musical God"
It's not Queen, but is a kind of magic!!! 😂 😍
voila a quoi ressemblent les concerts de PETER GABRIEL OMBRE ET LUMIERES ENVAILLISSENT LA SCENE ET COURONNE PAR LA VOIX EXTAORDINAIRE DE L ARCHANGE GABRIEL
He's incredible.
I "get it" a powerful message in song as usual
"Let's chat."https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xijua_WBhHA

This was another level of concert film. So immersive.
Looks a great night, missed out,big time on that tour
