Funkadelic - The Electric Spanking Of War Babies Lyrics
Hi there (Hi, are you talking to me? What is that?)
You probably don't remember me, right? (No, I don't remember you)
Ah-ha, but I remember you (What's that? I don't?)
You probably won't believe this, but, uh
Was adopted by aliens
Was adopted by aliens
That's right, I said aliens
They have long since programmed me
To return with this message
When you learn to dance
You won't forget it
Ooh, when you learn to dance
When you learn to dance
You won't forget it
When you learn to dance
You won't forget it
You can walk a mile in my shoes
But you can't dance a step in my feet
You can walk a mile in my shoes
But you can't dance a step in my feet
You stand a chance
You can dance
You stand a chance
You can dance
It's shocking to find
(Sock it to the circuit)
That your mind
(Sock it to the circuit)
And your behind
(Sock it to the circuit)
Gets a spanking in time
Sock it to the circuit
Dead it in addition
We compute a perfect funk
You can walk a mile in my shoes
But you can't dance a step in my feet
You can walk a mile in my shoes
But you can't dance a step in my feet
It's a bummer to find that your mind
And your behind gets exploded in time
The electric spanking of war babies
The electric spanking of war babies
The electric spanking of war babies
The electric spanking of war babies
Oh, it's shocking to find
That your mind and your behind
Will get a spanking in due time
You've seen the bomb
Vietnam, LSD You've seen the E?
You've seen DNA
Watch them go to the moon, live on TV
Sock it to the circuit
We compute a perfect funk
In the digital
(We compute a perfect funk)
It's shocking to find
That your mind, like your behind
Gets a spanking in time
You've seen the bomb
Vietnam, LSD You've seen the E?
You've seen DNA
Watch them go to the moon, live on TV
The electric spanking of war babies
Sock it to the circuit, in the digital
We compute a perfect funk
The electric spanking of war babies
The electric spanking of war babies
We compute a perfect funk
We compute a perfect funk
The electric spanking of war babies
The electric spanking of war babies
The electric spanking of war babies
The electric spanking of war babies
The electric spanking of war babies
The electric spanking of war babies

The first time i ever heard this song electric spanking of war babies. I was in england I loved it then and i still love it now Get down funkedelics
Why are so many people sleeping on the song? Especially now in the digital age
Im betting phish covers this for Halloween
Funk was dying and New wave rising. 70's Funk was red hot!
I have some sort of mini existential crisis every time I listen to this piece because it makes me think about how we are always teetering on the brink of not existing. We really are living a fragile existence.
Mark Welford well said my man
Higgs I had this whole album in high school, can't believe the funkadelic was so far ahead of time.
Sorry Album George at this time was trying to get out of that Warner Bros.contract and this how you do it they will release you
1:17 song starts
Technology vs experience.
Love the funk
just a great highly underrated album! great to get stoned and drop acid to!
One of the BADEST songs of all time, Prince said it the best B 4 he past, when he introduced George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic's introduction into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, he said to see twenty 20 BAD ASS musicians on stage playing in harmony was a thing of BEAUTY ......QUOTE Rude Boy RIP
2G/The 2nd Generation of Funk 2018. We have arrived to give this Generation what it sooo desperately needs a spanking! 🎶🎧😎🎹🎤🎸🎺🎶
played this a million times in 1981
You can walk a mile in my shoes
But you can't dance a step in my feet
You can walk a mile in my shoes
But you can't dance a step in my feet
You can walk a mile in my shoes
but you can't dance a step in my feet!
masterpiece
This album sucked!! Eddie Hazel wasn't on this album
Eddie was on funk gets stronger part two with sly then eddies all on I angle which was an outake
George should have singed Roger and Zapp to a contract.
mightyblack1 he did but earner brothers bought Rogers album under uncle jam out and put it out on their label causing bad blood between George and cbs
George had to evolve he tried being normal with doowop and the Motown sound berry told George funk you so George heard the Beatles, Hendrix, cream, and sly and said I can do that too then after the rock thing played out George decided to get into space operas and concepts George had the foresight to evolve then George decided to evolve again into techno, electronica, new wave then hip hop no matter what George did he did it his way
All hale.........Dr. FUNKINSTIEN....
Funkadelic- Electric Spanking of War Babies (1981)
DIS IS MUCH BETTER THAN THANG OUT RIGHT NOW.
look people. George Clinton is whatever he is that man I love him so much I am George Clinton take it from me motor city Detroit
I'll say it here, George Clinton and Prince put out some of the best dance music of all time.
That Boy George influenced everything prince did prince even had the double band concept the revolution and the time
I've yet to hear anything by Prince that impresses me anywhere NEAR as much as G.C.. But I'll keep looking.
Funkadelic- Electric Spanking of War Babies (1981) "Let's Jam"
You can walk a mile in my shoes but you can't dance a step in my feet!!!!!
Always loved that line.
Parliament/Funkadelic were famous for their imaginative lyrics and a great play on words in the music.
O.M.G .........George Clinton........he had.....the ability to go deep in to his own mind...... while bein higher then ah witch doctor....go in and explore...... the infrastructure of his own understanding....come back out of that frame of mind and lay it down on Hot WAX.......and make you get up and have a rump shakin good time ....while proving himself as the ..Ambassador of FUNK......dam .... do yo thang.....Dr. Funkenstein......we solute you........U totally made funkin kool......lmao.......just one more silly........... Adopted*
"It's shocking to find
That your mind
Like your behind
Gets a spanking... in time"
In the digital age of dependence on electronic devices and virtual computer games, the day will come when reality strikes. If you have never been spanked, you cannot compute the perfect funk. Fly on children...
we Detroit ask george Clinton
We've all clone by this music, no doubt!!!!!!
masterpiece. We miss you Eddie Hazel.... shredding on lead, per uzeual.
Michael Hampton on lead
Parliament-Tunkadelic is what it is because of P-Funk.Not psychedelic rock the guys tasted that and they moved on.How original was Funkadelic as a rock band? The P-Funk is what set the world on fire and deal with it.U wanted Funkadelic to stay an average rock band .A lot of the comments on U-Tube make me so sick. And this is why "Black Lives Matter:" Why can"t the ghetto inspire great things?
fesslink bless us with more of your knowledge you have my ear....
George actually got his Idea of space Aleins from Sun Ra, Bootsy played with Sun before he got with George Clinton!
Boots you the brains behind the music!
George always going left but dont worry he returned to the rock on future albums then there are the spinoffs, mike, billy, Byrd, lige and others kept the rock and funk thing going while fuzzy and calvin and Grady was doing their own funkadelic album they were doing stiff George already did quazar, and mutiny was doing stuff George was doing or didn't need meanwhile George dropped this, atomic dog, pumpkin it up and move towards hip.hop
+Mystical Man boots never played with sun ra he played with james brown before george
fesslinks George Clinton also produced red hot chilli peppers album, rock funk it all works together to make this beautiful music
pfunk funk u cant funk up, on da one, always one... (la-da-da, dee-dee, da-dah- lada -dada)
that's junie and George on the intro get a turntable speed it up slow it down and you would see..
that's George and Shirley hayden
I LOVE this bass line. I sat around for hours jamming this tune.
I once read that this is the one Parliament album Roger Troutman performed on💯
it was the only album Roger performed on
funk gets stronger part one but there are four unreleased tracks during these sessions that George, bootsy, sly, and Roget did
Money H. Blessin' not true he's on none of the credits
U R 100% Right
Yes he is. He’s credited online as well. Check Wikipedia
Today let's just bathe in the greatness of Dr. Worrell. No worries of resting in peace, this doctor healed millions. Thank you Bernie.
true but this is Junie playing synthetic, and all instruments except the lead guitar solo that's Michael hampton
like phunk like son! Ciamond says on the Scar Archer youtube channel Fifteen minutes of Caffeine ISM gamesmanship! Geminigenius cdbaby.com/cd/simonripley
the song is about the "ultrasound" machine puts "the infants mind" to sleep so it can be retrained.
Still Spanking In Time.......
THIS IS ALL JUNIE...EXCEPT MIKES SOLO OF COURSE
Yep clip Payne told me he sat in the entire production of this song he said that's George and Shirley Hayden on the intro and that Ty lampkin sung on the track as well
much like maggott brain - a whole bunch of drugs went into the making of this gem of an album... mr clintons masterpiece!!!!! when u learn to dance u wont forget it...

we compute the perfect funk!
da real funk, nothing but da real
This is heaven!
If you're going to spank a war baby, you should not use an electrical power chord to do it!
...I"m just sayin'.......
the genius of George
Damn this is the good shit
+michael taylor agreed
michael taylor Ain't it tho?
michael taylor I bet that's what George said when he was smokin all that crack
+MC Zappa George just started smoking crack around this time him and sly was caught smoking crack around this time both had charges dropped
Born to push you around better just stay down you pull away he hits the flesh you hit the ground
this is the most craziest tune around!!
Check out Agony of Defeet.
Another nice Parliment/funkadelic jam.👌🏾
Never really paid attention to initially realize this, but you can hear the foundations for "Free Alterations" during the "When you learn to dance..." part at the beginning. This album and "Computer Games" were basically produced concurrently.
@Joe V. ILL hey joe this album was supposed to be a double album with cuts atomic dog, mans best friend,,loopzilla silly milametor junie was still producing most of the tracks at this time
p funk was laying too many tracks at this time George even said they was doing too much lets not forget the outtakes that ended up on the family series
FUNK N ROLL Children...!
Dashan wheeler you sound like you got some original experience. Were you involved?
WHY WAS THIS THE LAST FUNKADELIC RELEASE ON WARNER BROS RECORDS? WORD AROUND THE CAMPFIRE WAS GEORGE CLINTON GOT PISSED AT WARNER BROS BECAUSE THEY SIGNED ROGER TROUTMAN TO DO HIS 1981 SOLO RELEASE THE MANY FACETS OF ROGER AT A HIGHER DOLLAR, WHILE GEORGE THOUGHT HE AND ROGER HAD A DEAL TO RECORD HIS SOLO DEBUT ON GEORGE CLINTON'S ILL FATED, UNCLE JAM RECORDS, WHICH WERE UNDER LICENSE TO COLUMBIA RECORDS AT THAT TIME.
hey dashan George wanted this to be a double album at the time warners wasn't trying to put out the cash to promote it
plus they had roger and zapp to make money with and archie ivy said things were getting funky at warners( ,non promotion of funkadelic) plus radio didn't jump on this song like before, I was working at a thriftys drug store in Beverly hills and use too always see sly stone, archie ivy, and debra lett, ne ne montes, and would ask them about next p funk projects and record labels release date ,they gave me a new funk times paper and a uncle jam pin sly had this big mansion with no furniture.....
@donthewatcher Plus he didn't record it at their usual studio, thus it lacked a fat bottom.
+DASHAN WHEELER u r correct....
Alex Diamond Unlike Sir Lleb of Funkadelia's covers, censorship notwithstanding.
This song will survive ever test of time.
I got to see 'Clinton' back in I think 94. Funkin Amazing! Pretty awesome just to be able to say that.
Fing.... epic!
This song makes me want to do the thriller dance with my paws out in front and shimmying to the side on tippy toes.
just started doing it there. damn it is fun!
They will be here in San Diego at the House of Blues and they need to play this. I'll be there
back when i was a senior in high school i bought this record i listened to it and said WHAT THE HELL? then iwas looking at lifes magazine of voygers pics of the planets and i love this song
Funny how rappers never sampled this song
lots of funk that ain't been sampled yet
lots of p funk hasn't been sampled yet
mrkjsmooth16 Challenge Accepted!
it's time. Only about 23,578,876 that's all lmao🤣
It's hard copying the REAL.🤣
I REALLY DON'T EVEN COMPARE Funkadelic with Parliament Funkadelic at all. Funkadelics first 3 albums are iconic acid rock with Eddie Hazel at his psychedelic best and the music was more serious and less "Rubber Band" and I just can't get into it like I can with Funkadelic, its a little too POP art and goofy although played at the genre's highest level. But, when I listen to Maggot Brain I hear an Iconic album, and a definite must have for greatest rock albums collection.
I agree the first 3 albums hooked me, but I was able to find gems on almost every album that they made as either rendition of the group.
@don johnson Me I'm more inclined toward the P cause of my new wave roots. Some like fuzz, some like clean, but with both it was always complex and deep on some level. Maybe you came to them through classic rock?
@Alex Diamond No actually as a child of the 70-80's..new wave was in my blood..I was a huge Cure fan, New Order..etc. No..I just prefer the raw psychedelic edge of Eddie Hazel's guitar..Maggot Brain was a work of crazy magic..the P Funk era had it's moments, but I found it a bit too commercial, enjoyable, but mainstream.
@deprogrammer In my opinion the really creative genius was Bernie Worrel and his keyboard wizardry. He actually has a whole group of synthesized sounds that are attributed solely to him. One such example is the bassline to Flashlight the most Iconic Funk Jam ever. Speaking of Funk P-Funk is in my opinion what Parlifunkadelicment was all about. P-funk was their Monalisa. It represented the pinnacle of a evolution of their trial and error starting with Do Wop, then soul, R&B and Rock and Roll. But they climaxed to their perfection in the creation P-funk. So it is okay if you like rock and so you gravitate to the rock elements or if you were into psychedelic music and you like their brand of trippy mind bending elements in the music like aliens and getting high. |Or even the raw dog ghettofied pimpishness of their approach to sexual topics. In the final analysis if you was not into Parliament or Funkadelic because of the P-funk, if you did not want to shake you ass and bob your head to that funky groove then you have missed the point in my opinion. Because it was all about the Funk. And my favorite Jam is Funkenteleky
+deprogrammer Now you like myself r a real FUNKADELIC fan. I totally agree with you Parliament got a little to poppy for my taste (disco and radio play were the culprits). The Funkadelic was more of and underground band only truly funky folk and rockers got into them. Your comments r on point
Memories of the days of Live Parliament/ Funkadelic...Phenomenal!
Perfect funk!!
The best music ever heard by the human ear...
The talking about the arien is too crazy!!!! But or therefore, I like the P- FUNK! From Tokyo. 狂ってるんだが、そこがP-FUNKの良さなんだよな~。
Sweet, thought I was the only one who'd think of this song, I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to George about 1993 in a mall in Mi. He had just finished working with Prince on some tunes on Graffiti Bridge. Long live George the Master of Funk!!!
grafitti bridge was 89
I really just depends on where you take them...
It's been a while since I heard this..Funk music was so much fun to dance to..
If you really (I mean really) listen to the words of this song. Clinton was, is, and always been way ahead of his time. Look past all the stuff and hear the message. He's very deep. To deep for the system. That's why this one and a few others didn't get air play. We hear ya Dr. Funkenstein!!! No maggots in this brain.
Hitt Largeman thank you very much, he puts right out there, got to pay attention.
You can walk a mile in my shoes... but you can't dance a step in my feet! I love that!
two musicians....on this particular song, Mike Hampton on lead guitar....all other INSTRUMENTS was done by non other than Junie Morrison.... #truthbtold
which ironically turns in to shit and the world keeps on turning around
what about the nachos and cheesebread?
my junt
I dont' think they knew where they were going with this one. But it was the end of the P-Funk era. The last album under the name "Funkadelic". It was a big fight over the album cover, I read where someone said "The wheels were falling off". but this is a great album tho.
Love this.
"U can walk a mile in my shoes, but U can't dance a step in my feet." A response to the departure of Fuzzy/Calvin/Grady & the lawsuit allowing them to release the album "Connections & Disconnections" under the name "Funkadelic."
"It's shocking to find that your mind—like your behind—gets us spanking in time."
The war babies (US children born between WW2 & Korean war) are being mentally spanked by electric means (the media & technology).
We've seen the bomb, Vietnam, LSD
Let's see the P (-funk)
This is the end product of what George Clinton & his boys put down after smokin' a couple of acid tainted blunts...Chucklin'...
It's pretty, pretty, pretty good!
CATCHY GROOVE, I LIKE THE CHORD ARRANGEMENT, SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING EARTH WIND AND FIRE WAS INTO AT THIS TIME, BUT FROM A LYRICAL STANDPOINT I DON'T KNOW WHERE THEY WERE GOING WITH THIS SONG.
