I love Lauryn, but it can't be denied that she had a period in life where she went through a weird phase and has shown some very unruly/unpredictable behaviour. I wouldn't call it crazy... in the words of Dave Chappelle: calling somebody crazy is dismissive, "I don't understand this person so they must be crazy", these are strong people, maybe their environment is a little sick. But this behaviour came years after Fugees broke up, the reason why they broke up is known... that was between Lauryn and Wyclef having problems, which Wyclef recently has explained in some detail.

So they were using the dance hall beats in a mainstream song in 2005. And dance hall beats blows up becomes mainstream in 2014, and every hip home/pop song is using it

It's also possible she just couldn't handle finding out certain things about the industry, the pressure of being the leading lady in hip hop at the time, balancing work/family/faith, the whole Wyclef/Rohan thing... to me, she just sounds like she was hurt and is now pretty serious about sharing a certain message. I understand how people can find that quite erratic though.
