And even though he botched it .. it sounded fucking amazing lol

I love that version. Way different than the studio version, but he's still very much in key. Honestly probably my favorite live version of that song, along with the acoustic version he and Anthony did in a boat.

Rumours of this being about a kick given to john by AK on SNL in '92 and their subsequent fall out and how it was resolved and their time apart brought them closer together

I don't think John was necessarily petty for playing distorted on SNL after being kicked in the back. I don't believe he was extremely mad about the kick, the kick just sent him over the edge.

For me, Anthony, born in LA, raised with Cher as a babysit & stuff like that, is a spoiled fella, without much talent except for the balls to actually start up a genious group that I still love today, and ofcourse, some singing talent. John is the soul of RHCP though, he was always busy playing on his guitar when Anthony was with the rich kids drinking champagne. John experienced with his guitar, mastrubated like he said. Invented melodies and stuff. The only thing Anthony had to do from that point was to sing something over those beautiful John chords. As you can see i'm not a very big Anthony fan. So take this with a grain of salt. But nevertheless I think, and feel like, this is the truth. That's why John is getting so much attention lately, and will get way more attention in the future. Because he was true.

Couldn't be more wrong. Anthony (although I don't like him too much as well) actually wrote most of RHCP songs, John wrote his guitar parts yes, but Anthony wrote the "melodies and stuff". Plus, John Frusciante is not getting any attention lately, and won't (probably) in the future, simply because it's not what he wants.

Always amazes me when people say Anthony was no big deal for the band.... His lyric writing is almost unparalleled - almost like Cornell level

This song is timeless.. I love his music so fucking much.. my nephew is 3yrs old and taking an interest in music and I played this for him the other day. I want him to know the amazing beauty of Frusciante. this song will never get old to me.

John Leach That’s so lovely 💖 my 2 grandchildren knew how to sing Beatles songs very early in their little lives, but I didn’t know about Frusciante then. But perhaps his lyrics are a bit too serious for very small kids. Lovelorn teenagers though 😉 - Frusciante’s influence can only be good, surely?

It’s impossible to choose which is his best song - he is so exceptionally creative, such a gifted artist and song writer.

We all have songs that we say are the best, this one is high ranked one for me too but i think we van sy that all his work is just amazing and all his songs are the best!!!!

well sounds like a relationship songs but "a firm kick in the pants" and "i'll never except that dance and song" can refer so much to the SNL kick and UTB that John never liked to play for the popularity.

During that time people say that he was trying to sabotage the shows, or as Anthony mentioned for the SNL.
Maybe Frusciante didn't mean to be a dickhead to them but just wanted to express his self, you can see his style in Niandra etc

I don't know any other artist that compares to the artistic boundaries John Frusciante revolves himself around because I've noticed he creates new dimensions of sound in his music. People eventually are able to tap into it and When that happens John starts to dive into other new creative dimensions like in Letur Lefr and PBX Funicular Intaglio Zone. This man has opened so many realms and contains endless amount of talent and is living proof that the world isn't what people make it out to be.

In Vpro Documentary (1994), Frusciante said that he left the band because of Anthony. Also, Anthony in 2004 interview said that he supported John's solo career, but that he didn't have any of his solo albums, whilst Chad and Flea have all of his solo albums. Also, watch the Funky Monks Uncut Documentary, and see how Anthony treated John when he was most vulnerable.

Beautiful. I can see why he left, he just has so much talent why limit himself to backround singing and guitar? His drum fills are insane in this song, singing and harmonies are perfect. Guitar fits in and of course the song is full of meaning

John left the RHCP because he doesn't want to be as popular as the band was. He was one of the best guitarist, but he doesn't like it. ;)

Anthony treated him much better after '97.
He gifted him with a very valuable Fender Strat and Frusciante never spoke badly of him, even after he left the band. Anthony has changed a lot too.

@John Doe There was an interview with John on YT in which he basically said - I don't remember the exact words - that sometimes Anthony claims someone to do something without even knowing exactly why he does so. That was in an interview in 2000 or 2001, can't find it though. I wish I could.

So Cenitri's channel is a good step in the right direction minus the interactive aspect. Right? I subscribed to it a while ago, and I like the channel, although I have only been notified once of an upload. People can comment and communicate like you and I do, but what else can they do? They would have to be active and become more involved. I've done that as a simple user in the past. And maybe the person that owns the channel would have to moderate the discussions. I think that would take more than a couple of minutes per day.
Also I have visited Iva's site (Invisible Movement) quite often in the past. She is a very active moderator, and not everybody likes that and vice versa.
I enjoy discussing this with you and learn stuff on the way.
