To all lovers of FIL: I've talked to Joey a handful of times, the most recent one being in Springfield, MO last May. I was just starting to produce my own music, and I asked him how he balanced being an artist, and promoting his material from a business stand point. He told me to just keep making art, and if its real and genuine and good, people will spread it for you. I've just released my first EP recently and it contains some heavy early FIL vibes as well as influences from Fionn Regan, Bon Iver, James Blake, etc. Check it out if you want, or don't. "Everything Feels Better Now" is a good album but way to mellow/shoegaze for my taste.
I miss the rocky sound of the first two albums.

This album is nowhere near as good as their previous ones...Joey used to belt it out and now he's boring and monotone :/ same with their drummer. He was fucking AMAZING, but he softened up. Plus, they're using more and more samples :/ it's saddening. I miss their natural tone.

Tyler Miltimore Just for the record, Joey plays all the instruments on the album. The rest of the band is for live shows. I agree though, I miss that rustic, nature-inspired rock sound from the previous albums.

kj22697 Even as a huge fan of FIL's music, Everything Feels Better Now was not my favorite record, but "mediocre" is much too harsh a word. I would say "underwhelming," but that's coming from someone who adores The Man with Wooden Legs and Able Bodies, both much more agressive and driving in their sound. I'd say to listen to those two records, and if you have already heard them listen again --- I didn't like FIL after my initial playthrough of Absent Sounds (their third LP), but after a second time through I realized there was a lot there that I missed, and it led me to the first two albums which are, in my opinion, two of the most original, nuanced and thoughtful records made in the last ten years. Let me know your thoughts on them once you've checked them out, and please do that! Great music is still being made.
