Abandoning the Surf Punk sound was a good call. I don’t see how they could’ve expanded on that, but that’s just me and my limited perception

Nathan Harvey I didn’t call them sellouts. They evolved their sound

palemaid I’m not saying I’m correct here, but if you ask me, I feel like this isn’t their sound at all. I feel like since they signed to epitaph records, that epitaph had a huge influence on their sound on this album. Don’t get me wrong, they don’t sound bad, I’ll probably end up still buying the record anyway, but I just feel like this album isn’t them. I feel there other two LP’s that they did were a lot more them mainly because they had a way bigger say in the making of those two records

i understand where you are coming from, But I guess the reason im saying this is because im listening to the lyrics and alot of their newer music seems to just be plainly saying "i grew up " ,i also feel that because lets be realistic, how many more breakup songs about their ex from 5 years ago can they make? .i Loved their old albums but i just feel this is just a different stage if their life ( kinda like how the growlers completely changed after a while and dont really do the same kinda psychedelic music or tame impala or FIDLAR ect) i dont even like the same genre of music i liked back when i used to really like them so i guess i dont expect them to wanna keep making the same type either.

It was way more of a risk to keep making the same music they were making, than to switch if up.

I saw the track listing for their newest upcoming album and well.. what can I say, The Frights wanna become an emo/pop punk band, sing about edgy and angsty things. What's funny is that they always sang about angsty stuff but it felt like it was coming out of a romantic person. Now it feels like it's coming out of misunderstood teenagers.
