I can understand why this album wasn't popular.. It's not very clever music, like people probably expected from Freddie. But i fricking love almost every song SO much on this album. Their simple, have nice rithm and i just love themmmmmmm!!

Freddie got bored making this album as he had started taking inroads in to the Barcelona project which he was much more interested in. He finished it as he had a contract and had already received his huge fee.

It kind of shows in the final product - it's not a bad album, but you can tell Freddie isn't putting his heart into it except for two, maybe three songs.

None member of Queen intervened on this album, actually Freddie thanked them for not interfering. There's good guitarist everywhere, May's not the only one.

@James Mathai, well said! I understand what you're saying about the long haired Freddie Mercury in the 70s... He experimented with so many genres in the 70s... In the 80s, he was still an excellent musician, but he became more of a performer... He was a truly amazing musician and frontman.

People expected Freddie's solo material to sound like Queen which of course didn't happen. They were all very different and had different musical tastes. I think this album was great and had some really good songs on it!

I honestly didn't like the solo album but now that I listen to it I love it! I guess I just expected Queen but Freddie is amazing in this album.

It isn't Brian playing, but the story I've heard about this track is that it was originally worked on as a Queen song, and was originally going to be the final song on The Works album, but was ultimately replaced by Is This The World We Created? Freddie then re-recorded the track with session musicians for his solo album, and the guitarist largely replicated Brian's guitar parts. As far as I'm aware, Brian received no credit on the song, and I believe this was the source of some discord within the band at the time.

I absolutely love this album.

This album bombed at the time but it is a fantastic album, I think it is now more appreciated.

The problem was the production that really sucks and the arrangements as well..a lot of tracks later took under the control of Brian and Roger became sooooo much better
That showed that Freddie alone could not go that far...

Got it the year it came out and still love it .
