Franklin, Aretha - Rock Steady Lyrics

Rock steady baby!
That's what I feel now
Let's call this song exactly what it is

Step n' move your hips
With a feelin' from side to side
Sit yourself down in your car
And take a ride

And while you're movin'
Rock steady
Rock steady baby
Let's call this song exactly what it is
(What it is -what it is - what it is)

It's a funky and low down feelin'
(What it is)
In my hips from left to right
(What it is)
What it is
Is I might be doin'
(What it is)
This funky dance all night
Oh!
(Let me hear ya gotta feelin' in the air)
Oh!
(Gotta a feelin' an ain't got a care)
Oh!
(What fun to take this ride
Rock steady will only slide)

Rock steady........ rock steady baby
Rock steady........ rock steady baby

[Instrumental]

Step and move your hips
With a feelin' from side to side
Sit yourself down in your car
And take a ride
While you're movin' rock steady
Rock steady

Let's call this song exactly what it is
(What it is -what it is - what it is)
It's a funky and low down feelin'
(What it is)
In my hips from left to right
(What it is)
What it is - is I might be doin'
(What it is)
This funky dance all night
Oooooooooooooh
(Wave your hands up in the air
Got the feelin' an ain't got a care)
Oooooooooooooh
(What fun to take this ride)
(Rock steady will only slide)

Rock steady baby
Rock steady... woo!
Rock steady

[Instrumental]

(Rock.... steady!... rock... steady!)

(What it is)
It's a funky and low down feelin'
(What it is)
In my hips from left and right
(What it is)
What it is
Is I might be doin'
This funky dance all night

Oooooooooooooh
(Wave your hands up in the air)
Oooooooooooooh
(Got a feelin' an ain't got a care)
Oooooooooooooh
(What fun to take this ride)
Oooooooooooooh
(Rock steady will only slide)

Rock steady
Steady it baby!
Rock....rock steady baby

[Fades]

Part 2 of Jamaican Cafe Vanessa Williams a true Queen.
Impressive her knowledge cut right a book feed the nation
She is magnet her treatment in life Miss marvelous memorable upstanding prodigious
So you have to understand back then it was something to be proud of a beautiful sister who became Miss America we take whatever we can get we're I would do it probably to everyone in the community every child watch this wonderful woman wore that Crown felt like they can be anything or anyone in their life this is how children video and when we were just about to enjoy this wonderful moment someone of course from her past decide to crash and burn her to the ground they took it to another level it was disgusting disrespectful in such a way it was not even anyting to do with who she is today in that moment she did what she did and she's not apologizing to anyone she doesn't owe anybody anything especially Miss America Vanessa William is a revolution fighting sister who does not look back at her past and make excuses she go forward.
So when I saw Vanessa Williams made her speech and who she is very clearly never say that word didn't accept any pity feeling helpless lost oh no far from it the sister show everyone and the world that I will not be broken down stomp on phone away by you or anybody else think that I did not live up to your standards your fake image your hypocritical way you think most of everybody in this world was waiting for that word I'm sorry oh no it didn't come it didn't happen.
I'm so glad that she didn't do it to this poem by this wonderful artist represent who Vanessa Williams is it's by Maya Angelou you may write me down in history with your bitter Twisted lies.
You may trod me in the very dirt. But still like dust. I"ll rise.
Dose my sassiness up set you?
Why are you beset with gloom.
Cause I walk like I've got oil wells pumping in my living room.
Just lilce moon and like suns with the certainty of tides.
Like hope springing high, still - ll rise.
Did you want to see me broken? Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like tear drops, weakened. By my soulful cities?
    Dose my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard eause I laugh like I"ve got goldmine.
Diggin" In my own back yard.
You may shoot me with your words.
You may cut me with your eyes.
You may kill me with your hate fulness.
But still, like air I rise.
Vanessa Williams it's like Coco Chanel Beauty Begins the moment you decide to be yourself.
From and loving mother giving and caring and nurturing to a beautiful wife who appreciate the moment that she shared with her husband and continue on working together to build a great Foundation and help those who needs help here's another poem by the great late Maya Angelou I have learned that people will forget what you said and people will forget what you did but people will never forget how you made them feel.
So Vanessa you make Beauty your kindness you make Beauty the moment how does black time and kindness makes you the the center of your grace and the words that you speak so kindly and gently thank you for being who you are and giving us a moment in your life that will never forget

Good morning good afternoon welcome to Jamaican Cafe we are going to do a tribute to a great sister a soul sister a revolution sister who is strong and this music is by yes Britney Spears so when she hears this song this is a tribute to you the songs represent who you are Turn up the radio blast in your house.
So when I first heard about her she was and Young Unknown woman in a present striking Beauty incredible fearsome inspiring lovely has a magic beyond words first class Majestic personality marvelous intelligent educated well-rounded individual.
The one I feel about beauty pageant I would want to be a run just to get a scholarship the idea of women praying their self like cattle walking down the runway why a bunch of men judge them on their body and then asking them questions and thinking they do not have the proper answer it just goes on so here it is Miss America always been one category Caucasian new all the race was ever enter in his contest and suddenly they decided to do what open the door to see who had the courage to step forward and do what these days been doing for years and years you must live up to their expectations what they want is a coming out party when your 16 in a self you wear these beautiful white gown and gloves. Suddenly things change we will think it was for the better two beautiful sisters decided they will run for Miss America 1 students so fantastic she was Vaseline dedicated delightful divine enchantment everything they want and can work with renew somehow this is one would represent the brand her name was Vanessa Williams.
You have to remember when it comes to being black and trying to make a name of represent who you are in this country the barriers the walls they make it hard and we have to prove our self three times.
So when she want it was like a Triumph achievement a race to the finish line.
Vanessa William didn't give a damn what do you think and who she supposed to represent. Vanessa owned First Rate first class undeniable unbelievable she is this and more.
    Part 1 of Jamaican Cafe

"What It IS" became a greeting, as in " what it is, youngblood" or just something to show you were cool, like "it is, what it is. . brother." I won't join in condemning today's beats and artists for not having 'real music' because our ways of getring to express our essence, has so many more avenues, i.e. youtube. My GOD, when Soul Train came on the scene---we were just a few years removed from my mother running through tge house when a black face, came on TV. Soul Train brought us to place that i dont think, we understand: yes this music was our parents' time but they weren't accustom seeing black images flashed acrossed the screen. We might not have understood the complete value as this was coming to us, as normal--- and as for our parents there may have been angst and fear of where. this 'change.' Our assumptions in looking back is thinking 'oh, how great it was' when it just us wanting to believe, that "what it was" was better.

I just sat here and enjoyed the Queen and have to endure the harsh realities of the past. She is a bit of the past we can look back on, think about our folks and truly smile. But the life we have now is the Best.

This was a demo, the producer and engineer (Dowd and Wexler) were late so Aretha taught them all the song and they cut a demo with it, first take no overdubs. When Dowd and Wexler arrived they charted it out with Wexler's ideas and tried to re-record it but they couldn't do it so they kept the demo. The great Chuck Rainey on bass and Bernard Purdie on drums.
