Frankie Valli - We're All Alone Lyrics

Outside the rain begins
And it may never end
So cry no more
On the shore of dream
Will take us out to sea
Forever more, forever more

Close your eyes, ami
And you can be with me
'Neath the waves
Through the caves of ours
Long forgotten now
We're all alone
We're all alone

Close the window
Calm the light
And it will be all right
No need to bother now
Let it out
Let it all begin
Learn how to pretend

Once a story's told
It can't help but grow old
Roses do, lovers too
So cast your seasons to the wind
And hold me, dear
Oh, hold me, dear

Close the window
Calm the light
And it will be all right
No need to bother now
Let it out
Let it all begin
All's forgotten now
We're all alone
We're all alone

Close the window
Calm the light
And it will be all right
No need to bother now
Let it out
Let it all begin

Throw it to the wind, my love
Hold me dear
All's forgotten now, my love
We're all alone

Frankie Valli We're All Alone Comments
  1. Audeladesapparences

    From France.
    Thank you for sharing.
Nice version, but (personally) I prefer the voice of Rita Coolidge and the orchestration of her version. But I respect everyone's tastes ...
    Regards.
    Jean-Jacques.

  2. Rocio Lazcano

Yo conocí primero ésta versión y me gustó muchísimo. La versión de Rita la conocí después y no me impresionó. Gratos recuerdos. 😢😢

  3. Ghecko

Sorry. Rita Coolidge beats them all. Her voice was made for this song.

  4. Robert Springston

Rita Coolage did that song too But NOT LIKE FRANKIE

  5. CygnusRoc

I prefer the Boz Scaggs version. I like the Rita Coolidge version too.

  6. clobbohead

Such a beautiful melody. Something lacking in a lot of the popular music nowadays! But a great song, when played on either guitar, piano, sax, violin, or tuba is still a good song. It's the song that counts but I like Rita's by a hair.

  7. seventiesmusicisbest

Love reading the different opinions here on who sang the best version of this song and everyone has their reasons which is great but is it wrong to think that there is no best version and each singer brings something different to the song that with the exception of Boz Scaggs of course almost makes it theirs.

  8. sarah perry

I love when Boz Scaggs sings it.

  9. BilliardsLover

Ah, the good ol' days before Auto-tune. Pure voice. Beautiful...

  10. swampzoid

The great Boz Scaggs proves here that he can write songs that are universal and different artist can put their own expression into it. I love Rita's earthy treatment of this song.

  11. Alexander Batty

This is probably the worst version of such a great song. No feeling and emotion

  12. Monorail Beyond the Veil*

Sorry, but I think the Rita Coolidge version was perfect - complete with organ music and electric guitar.

  13. Loretta Whitt

    Always a fantastic singer

  14. Sergio Rivera

Rita cover's make so good than Valli's version.

  15. Nate

I lived in the sixties and seventies and never heard this. How?
He has a great voice and production. But there were two other covers out there - Boz and Rita. I guess the radio stations chose Rita as the one in playlist rotation. I liked Boz because he wrote it and I respect composers. But his voice is just a bit too strange for the radio, I guess. Frankie's version doesn't match the 'dreamy' lyrics, though.
Anyways, it's a great song. When I bought Silk Degrees, I was amazed that Boz had written so many great songs, and then seemed to disappear. It's all so weird. I guess everyone has their story. Good job, Frankie. I saw you and the four seasons in the sixties and you and the guys were perfection.

  16. Ashley Kenney

I had no idea Frankie Valli covered this song, they say you learn something new every day.

    Paul O'Reillybeautiful

Ashley Kenney and he makes a very good job if i my say so

  17. SunTai

Good grief...this song was written by Boz Scaggs??? and covered by Frankie Valli??? You learn something new every day.. God Frankie can sing...

  18. Lynne Barker

Original written by Boz Scaggs is the best version.

  19. rene angulo brown

Es mejor versión que todas, aunque la canción es de por sí es muy romántica.

  20. eric gonzalez

I guess it just depends on the listener’s ear. I prefer the FV version to the the other 2. They both have their own charm, but neither can match FV vocally.

  21. Kirsten Noel Vaccaro

    It’s Okay!

  22. King Shamo

it's a good version but not the best. it wasn't even better to the filipino artist version Zsa Zsa Padilla https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEqZ_pgROQo

  23. Louie Neira

Great version. Still like Boz's better, though.

  24. Dale Schneider

This version is ok. Rita Coolidge’s is ok also. Boz is still the best.

    Marc Jacobs

    Walker Brothers......

  25. Mike Mig

This could not be more awful. Totally unsuited to Frankie's voice. I need mouthwash for my ears now.

  26. fooman65

No idea he did it, great songs stand the test of time.

  27. Paul Peace

Franky delivered this song with more emotion and falsetto....
    Great skills.... and feeling.

    Mookie Spindlehurst

Sorry, but his voice never broke out of the tenor range into the falsetto in this recording.

  29. Kathy Jarvis

I love Frankie Valli. There's not a song of his I don't love.

  30. mrob75

I truly feel that this should have been the hit for this song vs. Rita's (nothing against Rita but this is far superior.) The "B" side to this 45 is an upbeat super 70s sounding pop song (You To Me Are Everything) that I also enjoyed flipping over and playing.

  31. Yasiel Puig

Nope, doesn't compare to Rita Coolidge

    House Hunt

    Stick to baseball Puig

  32. Guillermo Marin

Bellos recuerdos de una epoca que vivira por siempre

  33. Maria Pantte

Preciosa en la voz de Frankie Valli. Bellísima!!!

  34. GreenerHill

I'd put this version and Rita Coolidge's as the best, though Boz Scaggs/Toto obviously did a fantastic job.

    Marc Jacobs

    Walker Brothers......

  35. rickw1100

    Great interpretation .

  36. Jose Belindo

    Best version

    Jose Belindo

Bob Gaudio produced it Frankie didn't like it  that Bob Crewe ran off and produced Disco Tex and his Sexolettes

  37. Lope de Vega

    great version

  38. hecleo morf

    hermosa cancion

  39. Carmi Son

    wow.....very lovely

  40. Ron Quin

I think Franki Valli is a boring singer. All he has is vocal range, but he does not have any interesting style to gis signing.

  41. pedro Gomez

Rita's is waaaaaaaay better...besides it's better when a girl is singing it to the guy and forgiving him.. it always works out better like that

    Carlos Cruz

pedro Gomez Frankie Valli recorded it first but you are so right Rita's version sounds much better.

  42. gerry forbes

What about the B side You to me Are Everything forgotten a tune forgotten about on You Tube many will not have heard it

  43. Not Saying

Boz Scaggs version is so much better.  This sounds like a cover by the lead singer of a famous doo-wap group.

    David Aeschlimann

Boz Scaggs is the best! More soul!

  44. The Four Seasons

ALERT,FRANKIE VALLI AND THE  FOUR SEASONS NEW ALBUM RELEASE DECEMBER 1ST. A CHRISTMAS ALBUM-TITLE   TIS THE SEASONS! HOWS THAT FOR COOL!

  45. Kathy Jarvis

wow. I love this song. Frankie did a great job!!!

  46. David Walsh

What a lovely surprise this is beautiful. Its a different version to Rita Coolidge. Its as good as but definitely not better

    The Four Seasons

its as good is good enough.

    Evil Tracy Queen

David Walsh Frankie ' s & Rita's versions are both from the Original written & sung by Boz Scaggs

  47. A Charles Amentt Jr

You are correct. This is the best version.

  48. dupadoit

this is way better than Rita Coolidge

    LAM 101

Boz Scaggs is better ,but then again "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" or "beer-holder" .

    Mike Wynne

Rita is beautiful- but a boring singer. Dull, bland voice.

    Robert Peters

    @Mike Wynne Are you nuts?

    swampzoid

I love Rita's version. Her voice is earthy yet delicate. The sound and arrangement of her recording of this song was very good. So many crappy love balled were out when she had a hit with this song and it stood out.

  49. Diana Hicks

Love this! Had the album this was on many years ago. Have been trying to find it ever since.

  50. itsjemmabond

Bloody hell, I had no idea Frankie Valli did this. Very impressive, but then so was Rita's.

    Beverly Cranson

    so was boz

  51. Dante Irurzo

Granes recueredos de mi gran amor
