Frank Zappa - "Oh-Umm" Lyrics
[Gilly:] Ohh. Umm. Hmm.
[Girl #1:] That's how long I've been here. I've been here ever since, ever since it got dark I've been here.
[Louis:] How did you get in my home? This is my piano. How did you get in here?
[Motorhead:] I thought it was my piano.
[Louis:] It's mine.
[Louis:] Since about 10 years ago its mine.
[Roy:] You sure?
[Louis:] Yes, positively.
[Roy:] No, it was mine.
[Louis:] This is a small place, you must be blind you know.
[Motorhead:] Where were you at?
[Roy:] Could have been one nine . . . No, it couldn't have been one-nine-oh . . .
[Louis:] It couldn't have been any more . . . How about try, just try 'G' . . .
[Roy:] How did you happen to get in here?
[Louis:] My mother said to me "You're a bad boy, Louis the Turkey. You'd better, you'd you you you'd better go on 'E' and stay on 'E' and you'll never see the world . . . you're a bad boy 'cause you you went to the bathroom on the floor!" you know?
[Louis:] No, they made me eat it.
[Roy:] Ooh.

Frank Zappa "Oh-Umm" Comments
Heia Jaksjø! :-)
Great version. Really enjoy listening to FZ compositions by big band jazz it definitely adds a new dimension 😎
Great chart! Respectful, but not quite faithful to the spirit of the original. Minor quibble. This is a B I G band. (I kept looking for the theremin.) Great rewards for trombone lovers, the valveless brass wonder, the 'Devil's Instrument' as popularized by the Fabian G.B. Shaw. It's not Bruce Fowler, but lotsa fun!
The original, unless you have the vinyl, is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zjJw9YvA18 The text s/b the anthem of our Tea Party here, Brexit in Britain, and les gilets juanes in the former Napoleonic lands. Save the world w/o Our Savior?
Yes, beautiful!
Frank will never die.
Amen, brother!
strepitoso
Thanks!
Really enjoyed this! Thanks for making it available.
Thanks t w. We love to do our work!
Zappa would have fucking hated this! Great work though.
The trombone solo is terrible.... But that seems to be typical for the hr-Bigband: Great arrangements but only average solo parts....
Thanks to all musicians who all took part. Perfectly done. I'm glad, FZ is appreciated now. R.I.P. FZ!
Completely awesome!!!
Tip of the hat for this one!
diggin’ the sounds of the keyboardist
They really blend well with the rest of the instruments
Favorite Zappa melody. so colorful- so individualistic- so fresh
Bravo!!!
Excellent!
Tolle Interpretation. Vielen Dank, Jungs. And for our English speakers: isn't it great to hear the Hessische(r) Rundfunk big band play this, especially Jaksjø's (?) trombone (Posaune) which adds so much to the arrangement, dare I say better than Underwood/Gardner's saxes? Great not only for the arrangement, but also: a) they're European (ok Holober's from NYC if I'm not mistaken) (and BTW check out Italy's Inventionis mater's work, Koln's Ensemble Musikfabrik and many more)--Zappa's work travels; b) they, or at least some of them, are relatively young, dh a lot younger than I am or than Zappa would have been in 2019. The music is what 45 years old now?
The inspiration that Frank left that drove these talented musicians to carry it on and present it to the world gives me hope for mankind.
Fantastic
FZ is still popular in Germany. He did many concerts there.
Franks music lives!!!
I'd love to hear this arrangement in combination with the WDR-Big Band
You guys are a total cut above every other tribute to Zappa. On point playing, arranging, and overall performance. You guys sound refreshingly well rehearsed!
except for Dweezil Zappa's band
Frank Zappa: the most important artist of the twentieth century.

Mehr,mehr davon...
Bellissimo arrangiamento e solo super.
Wowee Zowee! Gut!
Celente
How does HR do this great work? Much love from US.
fantastic, is there an album?
No, there isn't, I am sorry.
A particularly nice rendition of this , well done.
I’m speechless..
Frank Zappa's compositions are so easily recognisable, and this is a nice respectful rendition.
They did old Frank proud i'd say.
I donn't believe it !t
Oh no !
Gute Interpretation
Absolutely perfect song for our current out of control political divide .
I love the way it smells, Jazz that is
Another testimony to the brilliance of FZ as a truly unique composer.
Great songs are always great.
Geweldig !!!!!!
We'll give you a Grand Wazoo for that one. Thanks.
Can anyone tell me what time and key signature this is in?
The time signature in the score changes every once a while. In the beginning there are alternating 4/4 and 3/4 measures. Concerning the key, there are no accidentals specified.
Bellissimo
This is the arrangement from Lumpy Gravy
Grande esecuzione, Frank sei un grande genio.
Beautiful arrangement! I is digging it greatly!
jazz is not dead it only smells funny😂
Great Job here, but I think Frank would think this smells a bit funny.
Beautiful!
Fantastic! I think this would bring a smile to Frank's face!
Its his arrangement from Lumpy Gravy
Super Musicians!
Very slick interpretation and great sounding and feeling orchestra. Really dug this!
It's really a great arrangement. Frank would probably love it with the possible exception of the rewrite of the melody at 1 minute 12 seconds. You can't sing the words "from what we can't understand?" over that, not that words were ever more important to Frank than notes. But Frank did enjoy accuracy in the performance his music . Frank also might have objected to the trombone solo continuing after the solo section was over. The impact of the tight arrangement of the whole band was a bit weakened by the improvisation on top of it. But that's just my opinion.
Its the Lumpy Gravy arrangement......
TheTralfaz this isn't the Lumpy Gravy arrangement.
the "from what we can't understand?" lick was in the saxes, it was just really soft
Thank God, Frank cannot annoy us with his comments anymore. His last Albums did suck anyway and I hardly beliebe that he might be interested very much in interpretations of "Oh No".
Excellent!!!!!!
Super awesome version guys!!
Great arrangement. Fabulous trombone solo!
Wonderful, thank you.
Thank you.
