Frank Zappa A Pound For A Brown On The Bus Comments
I own all six of these. My favorite Zappa series other than Road Tapes. It's like a Zappa retrospective. The production quality is amazing and performances second to none.
Love to death
Not usually a fan of this line-up of the rockin' teenage combo, but I do give them some credit for thinking and playing outside the box...
I've always been of the opinion that, while this is the same line-up that toured America in 1981, the European tour of '82 had much more inspired playing. I feel that Zappa gave the European audiences better performances because they appreciated the music more than the American audiences did.
But, on the other hand, the Geneva show was cut off abruptly by Frank because audience members kept throwing stuff onto the stage. Things like cigarette butts any hypodermic syringes. Zappa warned them to stop doing that. A moment later, he abruptly called for house lights and that was the end of the show. I believe this very song is from that ill-fated show. Then, on that tour, the Palermo gig with the riots and tear gas in the band's faces. But I digress... Outside of those few distractions, the '82 European tour had fantastic performances.
Zappa at his best!!!
This is A pound for a brown at its best. The Vocal solo is out of this world !!! In sync with the guitar solo it's freaking amazing !!!!
this song got better and better from '68 - '88, and Dweez is doing a great job with it today.
Great track. Really stoked that ZPZ has been doing a fantastic job of this on their recent tour.
