Frank Sinatra - You Go To My Head Lyrics

You go to my head
And you linger like a haunting refrain
And I find you spinning round in my brain
Like the bubbles in a glass of champagne

You go to my head
Like a sip of sparkling burgundy brew
And I find the very mention of you
Like the kicker in a julep or two

The thrill of the thought
That you might give a thought to my plea, cast a spell over me
Still I say to myself get a hold of yourself
Can't you see that it never can be?

You go to my head
With a smile that makes my temperature rise
Like a summer with a thousand Julys
You intoxicate my soul with your eyes

Though I'm certain that this heart of mine
Hasn't a ghost of a chance in this crazy romance
You go to my head
You go to my head

Frank Sinatra You Go To My Head Comments
  1. A.... C....

So smooth and silky its perfect.

  2. C.... M....

Am I the only one who thinks this song is a bit of a rip off of "I've Got You Under My Skin?"

  3. B.... S....

Man! Early Sinatra....... You can't beat that....

  4. A.... k....

Hard to choose, but I think this just pips the later Nelson Riddle version....sounds more intimate in parts....and little did Frank know that Ava would enter the scene and bring these lyrics so heart-breakingly to life

  5. M.... F....

The early Sinatra voice had such magical expressiveness, however having said this I prefer his 1960 rendition of this sensuous song.

  6. f.... ....

His voice is so soothing. I love this. Thanks for posting catman916. :D

  7. s.... ....

    What a voice !

  8. s.... ....

    Flawless performance !

  9. E.... B....

This song reminds me of one person last summer.

  10. C.... Z....

Capitol version, from  "Nice 'n easy"
album, is greater than this, because of the "gramophone like" sound from the technology available on CBS years...

  11. p.... ....

Any guesses who inspired the passion to that song? (psst! Ava Gardener, I'd guess...)

    p.... ....

I think that this was recorded before he met Ava. One song said to be inspired
by her was "I'm a Fool to Want You" which I have also uploaded.

    p.... ....

@catman916 How about ( I Think of You ) another torch song for Ava.

    p.... ....

@peacheslovesjesus This was way before Ava Gardener...and the passion in this recording isn't any more or less than the 1938 version.

    p.... ....

This song was recorded in the early 40s before he met Gardener. But in the film of his life, the song is played when he drives to her. The best song about their relationship is one he co wrote, Im a fool to want you.

  12. J.... ....

Why don't we hear lyrics like this anymore? What happened to romance?

  13. F.... ....

Man he sounds young. Surprising how the resonating voice of vintage Frank is so much better.
